ST MUNGO'S REHABILITATION CENTER ATTACKED ONCE AGAIN DOZENS KILLED BY TERRORISTS IN A WILD MURDEROUS RAMPAGE Jeremiah Smith LONDON - In what can only be described as revenge for Frank and Alice Longbottom being brought to justice last week, terrorists once again stormed St Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries' Rehabilitation Centre in London, this time killing dozens of patients and staff as they went on a wild rampage through the building. Witnesses reported seeing a group of five to ten individuals wearing black and with their faces covered entering through the front of the centre before loud noises, screams, and bursts of light from spells broke the silence of the night. 'I thought they were going to kill me too,' said a staff Medi-witch who asked to remain anonymous for her safety. 'I'd just finished tending to my final patient for the night, and just as I was packing up to go home at the end of my shift, terrorists burst through the front door and started shooting Killing Curses everywhere. I managed to duck into an empty room and hid under the bed until everything had gone quiet and the DMLE had arrived, but I know I'm one of the lucky ones. They could have easily come into that room and killed me right there like they did to the poor girl I was just looking after.' A patient who also requested anonymity also told the Hogsmeade Herald of an encounter he had with one of the terrorists. 'One of them, a woman, told me they were going to take as many lives as they could to avenge what the DMLE did to the Longbottoms. I don't know why she let me go. Maybe she wanted to leave someone alive to pass on the message. She said to say that she was following orders from Rufus Scrimgeour, and that this was only the beginning of what is to come.' 'It's an absolute disgrace and a horrible tragedy,' added Octavia Pye, a St Mungo's Healer who witnessed the deadly terrorist attack from outside the centre during a smoking break. 'I wish I had been better trained at combat so I could have jumped in myself to help fend them off instead of only calling the DMLE and then assisting whichever victims I could. How these people can decry violence and murder and then slaughter all those innocent patients and Healers who have taken oaths never to harm anyone is completely beyond me. It is absolutely disgusting.' At the time of publication, the names of victims and survivors of the attack have yet to be released. The Department of Magical Law Enforcement and St Mungo's have estimated a death toll of at least 25 patients and staff members, as well as many more injured. The casualty rate is expected to rise over the next day or so. Large sections of the building itself were also destroyed in the attack due to stray spells and explosives. A number of local Muggles were reported as having swarmed the area after the terrorists had left, although they were directed away from the site when DMLE officers arrived on the scene. The official explanation to be released in Muggle newspapers is that yet another faulty gas pipeline exploded. An investigation conducted by the DMLE is currently underway. Representatives of the Rehabilitation Centre and the DMLE could not be reached for comments at the time of publication. The Rehabilitation Centre was last targeted by terrorists on the night of 29 June this year. Although the centre itself suffered extensive physical damage, no one had been harmed during the attack at that time. The DMLE encourages any witnesses to last night's attack to come forward and report what they saw in order to help track down the terrorists responsible. Readers who would like to make donations to the victims and the centre's repair efforts are asked to contact Meredith Popplewell, Fundraising Co-ordinator for the St Mungo's Hospital Foundation. |
