There were still people wandering around the streets of Diagon Alley. Emmeline was relieved that people at least were not bullied to hole up inside their homes, left to cower in fear. Although she thought she could see some form of uncertainty in their expressions, and this only served to unsettle her even more. Who was responsible for it? The Death Eater had not yet claimed its involvement: a move which she thought was rather cunning, but what could she have expected? They were a smart organisation, Emmeline could not deny that. She pressed the heels of her palms on her temples as if trying to stave off a headache. Frustration, that was the prevailing emotion. She could see now why Sirius and the other Gryffindor Order members were so rash in their actions. To do anything for the sake of feeling like they were making a difference was enough to risk everything. For them, at least.
Emmeline was glad to have this line of thought extinguished as she approached the Leaky Cauldron. A hasty glance at her watch showed that she was half an hour later. "Bugger," she muttered to herself and hastened her pace. Emmeline disliked being late and immediately felt bad that she had not been more punctual. Her meetings with Lawr at work were often brief and usually interrupted so she suggested that they meet up one weekend to catch up. The Leaky Cauldron was not bustling but it was not empty either. The shadows and half-concealed booths made it difficult to find her friend so Emmeline opted to go to the bar first. "I'll get a gilly water to start, Tom," she said, offering a polite smile to the barman, "Thanks."
