Vaguely, Emmeline wondered what Lawr would say if he found out she had been associated with vigilantes. She wasn't exactly the first person one would think got involved in that sort of thing. Back at school, she was deliberately unremarkable and didn't make too many waves. Emmeline was fair as a Prefect, she did well at her classes but there wasn't enough things that jumped out about her for people to take notice whether or not she had other, more interesting activities. In fact, Emmeline rather liked the way she had presented herself for so long now - it was useful. No one suspected her. Yet, anyway.
"Yeah," she replied quietly an returned to glaring at the bar's shiny wooden counter. Emmeline had the sudden urge to throw things. But as always, she wasn't exactly the type to cause a scene. 327 people. Dead. Men, women, children. Civilians. People who didn't do anything to the Death Eaters, people who had their own lives to worry about. The Death Eaters simply took everything away without even recognising the difference between combatants and civilians. "They're fucking despicable, you know," Emmeline said in a low voice, she was gripping the glass of gillyweed so hard that her knuckles showed white in the yellowish light of the bar. "There were children in those stands, I don't--," she stopped short, remembering how brutally Marlene's niece was killed. How detached the Death Eaters could have been, how cruel to have snuffed out such a young life. Emmeline pushed her hair back from her forehead, a nervous habit, and continued on a more level voice. "They don't seem to understand the difference between those who have the capacity to harm and those who do not. They kill without restraint."
She was watching Lawr carefully, trying to gauge his reaction on what she just said. Emmeline didn't usually voice her opinions out so strongly, preferring to keep most to herself or, selectively, those in the Order. But, in all honesty, the Order was only as strong as its numbers. They needed more people. Aberforth already has Pepper in mind and Emmeline thought that another Slytherin wouldn't hurt. If Sirius, James and the others didn't agree with her then... well, tough luck. Emmeline didn't discriminate according to some petty House divisions back at school.
