Mikino, Gabriel, Melisande, and eventually Andrew
February 13
Cave system Gabe is holing up in
Between the magic that Abel had provided and the fact that they knew what they were hunting, they were able to find the cave system. Mikino went personally, but he didn’t go alone. Far from it. There wasn’t a female among the guards. The video had enabled him to avoid that mistake. As horrifying as it must have been for Andrew to watch it, it had been a great help.
The Sidhe infiltrated the cave system quietly, but catching him wouldn’t be easy. Even if they got the drop on him, sifting was a tricky business. So Mikino opted for something besides total stealth. There was no time to set a proper trap. Who knew how long he would linger in his cave? After seeing that video, and not even all of it, he couldn’t just leave her there to suffer while they sat and waited for him to emerge. If one of them was fast enough, they could disable his magic, but it was unlikely. Andrew wasn’t going to like it, but they could keep pursuing him and Mikino had faith that they would catch him in a short time. His trackers were second to none. Even with his unique ability, it wouldn’t be simple to hide. They could search places the coven could not.
Mikino was meant to be the distraction. He walked in calm as anything, the shimmering wings unmistakable. Surely, Gabriel would hear his approach. He did nothing to mask it, the steady footsteps over the rough terrain. The other Fae would be harder to spot, cloaked in magic. He trusted that even the Gancanagh knew who he was and what it meant. He might think he was bold sending his little tapes to a human, but if he wanted to make things personal, Mikino would oblige. In essence, it was the challenge to pick on someone his own size.
He managed not to let those golden eyes flick to Mel, chained as she was, exposed. Sidhe were circling their way to her already, to cut her loose, to give her a blanket to wrap herself in. In time. He needed to be the center of attention now. He had faith in his people. Gabriel wouldn’t be able to touch him. And even if he tried, Mikino was hardly helpless.
His voice echoed off those damp walls, the commanding tone he employed in his Courts. Those golden eyes regarded Gabriel like he was an insect, disgust pervading the expression he wore. Just one more piece of garbage he had to contend with. “You think you can take one of mine, Gancanagh? ”
