Knocking on Heaven's Door
Who: Shimmer, Celeste Henry
What: Early Delivery
Where: Las Vegas, Hotel, Night
When: Present Day
Ratings/Warnings: None
The hotel suite was quiet, the television set hadn’t even been turned on the entirety of her stay. Celeste sat atop the quilt which covered the plush bed, legs crossed, staring out the floor-to-ceiling window that made up one complete wall of the room. On the desk sat an array of feathers and rocks from the desert. On the nightstand next to her, a few of her knives, including her favorite which had been picked up from a gun show.
It was called the Provoke, and when unfurled, resembled an aggressive-looking bird claw. They were old friends, and while she didn’t make it a habit of leaving such things out in the open, Celeste had made it clear that housekeeping was not welcome and would tend to the state of the room herself. So far, they had complied.
That was the perk of staying somewhere relatively expensive, especially in a city like Vegas. Discretion was the word. The brunette twirled a vivid red feather between her fingers, watching the lights twinkle below, the ant-size flow of traffic. It was calming, being so high above it all. Bird’s eye view. Or God’s.
No plans tonight, a pause on her machinations. Her free hand thumbed idly through her most recent book purchase. A lot of strange, unfamiliar symbols. It was dark and heady work, reading through it, but it was eye-opening as well. There were certain theories she was quite excited to put into practice.
