The file sat in JD's in-tray, deposited there during his rostered two days off, and became buried beneath a bundle that was tossed in to join it at the end of the previous shift. They'd been busy, taking down a Meth ring and their lab.
It was a regular LVPD case folder, dusty blue with navy borders and department logo in the corner. There was a two page report in there, on a stolen car that had been involved in a hit and run, the pedestrian having ended up in hospital ( with a concussion and broken leg. )
