There were flickers of memory. Her brothers, and Gellert. They'd been arguing, loudly. She'd had her dolls, had been playing quietly alone upstairs while they talked ... but then there'd been yelling. Loud words, angry words.

So she'd gone to see, and when she saw wands out and spells flying, she hadn't thought, she'd simply done. She wanted to protect her brothers, to protect Abe. She recalled, very vaguely ... someone calling her name, calling out a no, but then everything had been black and dark.

It was black and dark again, but warmer, quieter. Ari fumbled and pushed aside coats before she found a door. Opening it slowly, curiously, she stepped out of the closet. Closet. They'd never had a closet here. Not here. But the house was different. It wasn't her house, somehow. Somehow ... everyone was gone, and she was in a house that wasn't her own. How did that happen?

"Abe?" she called quietly, listening to her own voice echo back at her. "Albus?" she tried softly as she eased slowly further away from the closet. She wouldn't call out for Gellert. Even if he were here, she didn't want to see him.

"Abe?" she tried again at the base of the stairs. "Abe please, I'm scared," she called again, her fingers lacing in front of her, pressing into her belly as she peered up the dark stairwell. What was she meant to do? She didn't know where she was nor how she'd gotten here. She didn't know if she should stay, or try to find her brothers. They had to be around here somewhere, didn't they?

Cautiously, she climbed the stairs and eased into the empty house. It was furnished, it looked lived in, but it was empty. And it still wasn't her house. There were walls where there hadn't been walls before. The colors were all wrong, and she didn't recognize a lot of the devices that were staggered about the house. Keeping her hands to herself, Ari wound her way to the front door.

Here she hesitated. She'd only ever gone outside at night, and she could see the sun shining through the window. Would her brothers be upset with her if she went out? But they weren't here right now, and this wasn't her house, so wouldn't they be more cross if she was in a neighbor's house?

Opening the door slowly, blinking her big blue eyes at the sun spilling down toward her, she let herself out slowly. "Albus?" she called out. "Abe?" She lifted her voice and called their names again as she looked around.

Smoothing her hands over the heavy velvet skirt of her dress, Ariana began to move slowly away from the house. She was seeking her own home, calling out her brothers' names as she moved around the town. It all looked different though, and as she grew more and more frightened, she could feel her magic swirling and rising inside of her. She hoped she could hold it in check, but she had never been very confident in her abilities when it came to her rogue magic.

"Yeah," Al confirmed with a grin. "But just because I have it doesn't mean I'm going to use it. It takes almost as much time to just make the tea."

Which probably wasn't what Lily wanted to hear, so Albus decided to make himself helpful by getting the tea cups set up in a row. He pointed to a cup and gave Ari a questioning look, curious if she'd like some tea before continuing with the conversation.

"And of course I'm excited to meet her. I guess? It seems... weird. And not like a happy reunion or anything..."

What was it like to go from dying protecting your baby to finding out he's an adult and his oldest kid is around your age almost?

"There's a reason Jamie's my favorite brother," Lily muttered as she sighed and turned on the burner. Settling the kettle onto it, she peered curiously toward the stairs.

Well, no sense in going up there 'til the tea was done, right?

Attention turned to the younger witch, and Lily studied her curiously. This had to be those most interesting thimg that had ever happened here.

Ari shook her head slightly to the offer of tea. Instead, she retreated to one of the couches, hands clasped in her lap as she tried to stay calm and not panic, because panicking would make the magic surge out ... and that was always unpredictable.

"Is there something we should do for her?" Albus wondered quietly, choosing to ignore the favorite brother shot. He was sort of accustomed by now to being the least fun out of the entire brood of siblings and cousins. It didn't ruffle any of his feathers.

Retrieving some honey, Al regarded it curiously for a moment before shrugging.

"I have no idea how Gramma Potter takes her tea... Do you?"

"No idea on either count," Lily said as she hopped up to perch on the counter. Gramma Potter. Lily thought she was going to bust up laughing. It was true, sure, but Lily was half her dad's age and looked nothing at all like gramma Molly.

It was just about then that Lily and Harry came down and headed into the guest room. Lily waited until her father had emerged before directing his attention to their ... guest.
