Summary: Montague has been thinking for awhile.
The house had been beyond perfect; and, honestly, it could have been a shack- but to see the look on Verity's face as they walked to it, the way her eyes lit up and her wide smile. That was enough for him. And it really had been gorgeous, perfect, wonderful. They'd spent nearly the entire day there, Verity talking excitedly on how she wanted to plan the rooms, decorate, all the things that she had so been looking forward to doing.
Montague was more interested in the wards, they were his, theirs. Not his fathers, not an ancient line, or his wife's. But his, his to protect his family. He knew that one day he would inherit the Estate wards, and while that day would be an exceeding important and life changing one- one that someday, he would be proud to take on, this was different; a different kind of pride.
But it had made him start to think.
Something had been rolling strangely around in his head for weeks now. It had not started immediately when they had got Marlowe, but nearly so. And after seeing the boys play at Nott Manor the day before, talking of god-father's and ceremonies, realizing his friends were having children... He couldn't stop the thoughts any longer. Even as he stared at the parchment in front of him, Verity sitting quietly at recliner by the fireplace, the words came out ignoring that his brain- while thinking them- had been determinedly telling him it was a bad idea.
"We should have a baby."
