So my brother has caught me up on the general gist of this place. Vampires and werewolves and witches and anything else I could think of, apparently.

And I'm supposed to have some kind of job as well as being a forced soldier for the angels? What is a pirate to do?

[Filtered to the Lost Revenge Crew]

Harry told me that the Lost Revenge is here, once a part of Hook's fleet.

Uma, you're a Captain, I'm a Captain. But my ship isn't here and the Lost Revenge is yours, fair and square. Besides, the reasons why I became a Captain at all aren't relevant here. So you'll get no challenge from me.

Permission to come aboard, Captain?

[Filtered to Killian Jones]

I am not calling you father

I see you have an actual daughter here. From a tower. She seems sweet, I suppose. I hate sweet

If you wanted to meet to help me train with my blades, I would not be opposed to the idea.

I am as well, it's ingrained in me. Or it used to be, now I just don't sleep at all. But 9 it is, my dear.

I rarely drink, especially compared to my brother, and I was the Captain of my own ship. Sunrise and the tides were what mattered. Not that we could sail more than a few yards from the shoreline.

You don't sleep?

I was talking to Emma Swan, she said she is from your reality.

Yes, exactly. Time and Tide wait for no man.

I don't. It's a long story but I'm not quite...human. Not anymore.

Ah, right. Swan. We are very well acquainted, me and her. She's a good ally to have though I still don't trust her like I bloody well used to--

The sea is in my blood.

So what are you?

She seems to think in similar ways to me, similar ideas about the supposed "good" guys.

I could sense it about you, aye.

The Dark One. Host for the Darkness, I should say. Tethered to a blade. It's a curse, of sorts.

She doesn't - well, she's not herself right now. Not saying she's a mindless do-gooder, but there's much more light in her than what comes across right now.

Like can sense like?

Darkness? What does that mean? Tell me honestly, could that be a danger to Harry some day?

Really? Shame, I like her like this. Though I'm not sure what I expect from the daughter of Snow White.

From one pirate to another, love.

It started off as the first Dark One corrupting her own soul by taking in more than she could handle - power, darkness, immortality. Then it passed along to others, around and around. The Dark One's curse is cyclical - one dies, another reborn. No, not for Harry. For anyone that tries to hurt him though, yes.

I loved her as she once was, when she was my everything Snow White is no perfect angel, and Emma never was either - she wasn't even raised by her mum anyway, so she had to learn how to take care of herself.

Damn right.

So one day you will pass on the curse to another? How would that be decided? I have to ask, why do you care about him? In some other universe, some other man calling himself Captain Hook fathered three children by three women, and even he didn't give a damn about them. Why do you?

We clearly knew different Snow Whites. Though ours only believes herself to be an angel, like all the Auradon lot. Sure if you scratch beneath the surface though, things would be different. How come White didn't raise her own kid?

Perhaps one day, though my circumstances of becoming what I am were a bit...unconventional. The way it usually works is that the soul of the next Dark One is bound to a certain blade, a dagger. If the Dark One is killed by the dagger, whomever wields the death blow becomes the next Dark One. But anyway. I give a damn because I spent too long not giving a damn and I need this I need the reminders of what it's like to care. So I don't lose myself entirely to this.

Not surprising, heroes and heroines are often not very self-aware. But this Snow didn't raise her child because an Evil Queen would have killed her if her parents didn't send their newborn a realm away, so she'd get to live.

So someone would have to kill you using a specific dagger, one that I'm assuming isn't here? You seem so different from him. It's a lot for me to get my head around. Harry deserves to have someone who cares. A father type, I mean. So I guess it's good that you do.

Hence why they locked all their bad guys on an island and forgot about them. They sent a newborn away on her own?

Aye, that's right, and it's not here. Both Emma and I are bound to the same blade. It's an even longer story than this but I'll spare you for now.

No, they sent her with a wee boy - couldn't have been more than eight years old, but he turned out to be codswallop and left her.

Sounds like a very long and confusing tale. Maybe one day we can share it.

Eight years old is still old enough to care for a child.
