Stefan had spent the last few days with Davina. It was hard looking at her, sick and weak, but he continued to stay with her. He continued to tell her that soon this would be over. He didn't know if it would be. It seemed that a lot of the residents were getting sick. He would see some of their postings on the network talking about it and it was unreal how fast it was moving. Then again, Stefan had seen many epidemics of widespread sickness. Right now, he managed to keep her fluids up, he gave her medicine and he tried to assure her that her magic wouldn't get out of control. For now, she was sleeping and he made the excuse that he needed to feed in order to get out for an hour. Which, he didn't think that Caroline exactly liked, but he needed to get out for a bit.
No, feeding wasn't exactly on his mind. He had already fed earlier that morning and instead, he took the backstairs and used the backdoor to walk out toward the beach. It was pretty quiet for the time being, but Daytona, even as they were trying to rebuild, kept odd hours so he knew it would be anytime really that people would be out and about. One thing that he was grateful for was the fact that he couldn't get sick. That Caroline couldn't get sick, but that left Davina and Elena and even Bonnie wide open.
Then again, Elena was still questionable. Even if she wasn't a vampire, she still had the cure inside of her. It kept her alive and kept her from becoming a vampire again, so maybe it would also cure her from getting sick. He didn't want to suggest that though. The last thing they needed was Elena using her skills as a med student to try and help these people. It was another reason why Stefan hadn't mentioned that vampire blood could probably help too. There was too much of a risk that either it wouldn't help at all, or that something would happen and these people would end up vampires.
He walked along the beach, half wishing he would have at least brought Caroline, but sometimes he thought that maybe she needed the space too. He'd been attached to her since Damon's death because he was afraid of losing her too, but lately, he had been taking his own time so she could have time for herself, or with her friends. He didn't want to crowd her and he knew logically that anything could happen. He just had to hope it wouldn't.
Lifting his head, he glanced out at the ocean, but noticed someone. He nodded over at her, but he didn't say anything. Usually, he would, if they were hurt or needed help, but she seemed like she just needed a break too.
