Joss Salvage || Badr al-Budur ([info]sultana) wrote in [info]bellumlogs,

Who: Joss, Oliver, Nina, and Sherri (and anyone who wants to join in)
What: Vampire Recovery Co.
Where: 205
When: Morning of the 27th
Warnings: Not much?

After hearing from Nina and Oliver, Joss got off the computer. Sherri might have thought she was going to play a game, but Joss maintained she had more sense than that. If she was going on the computer for anything stupid, it would be to do some stupid update on vampires and the real truth behind them. Along with some research on what shampooing your hair with garlic did for the follicles.

She headed back to the kitchen sink, rolling out a chain of paper towels to bind up her arm. Her dirty clothes were ...fairly clean all things considered and she merely dug through Sherri's cabinets and fridge till she found something appetizing. No alcohol (how Sherri, how?) but there was juice. Sugar seemed fine. She was half-way through pouring a glass when she heard someone at the door. She dropped the carton, glancing once at the bathroom door before heading to open in.

Nina had known that another encounter with Javert wouldn't go well. If they both got out of it alive, he would be unlikely to let it go and if they hadn't both gotten out of a confrontation alive-- that was a whole other set of problems. She hadn't liked making herself susceptible by drugging herself but there were little other options. Eponine couldn't roam free tonight. Nina almost felt bad for it-- she had grown almost accustomed to the girl-- but in the end there was no question. She couldn't trust anyone but herself to keep herself alive and she especially couldn't rely upon a work of fiction who followed her heart.

When the sun began to rise, she had just started to come to and she raised the blinds and allowed the bright rays reflecting off the city buildings to stab her into awakening. A few seconds later she had a protein bar in her hand to skim over the forum and check the night's body count. When she saw Joss's post, it only took a moment to make a decision. True, she only knew how to treat injuries from fists or knives or bullets, but Nina suspected that that was rather more than Joss knew.

With remarkable speed, she had pulled a worn-looking bag out and was securing her apartment as she left it. The hall and stairs were deserted and she pushed the door to Sherri's open slightly without knocking, before thinking better of it and rapping lightly on the frame.

"Joss?"

Of course there had been injuries, and even John had been all too aware that when the monster left him and the sorceress alone, another would be substituted. There was a heavy dose of guilt, of wondering if the girl could have been spared any injury if he had not been rescued from Dracula's bite.

But that was neither here nor there.

Shortly after logging off of the forum, Oliver busied himself about the apartment, gathering the bag he always kept stocked with supplies, and then he was bustling out and heading down the stairs at a quick pace to the second floor. Coming to that floor, Oliver paused, catching glimpse of another standing just outside that door.

"Are you here to help as well?" Oliver asked, stepping closer, a bit slower in his pace.

She sagged against the doorway as Nina and then Oliver came in. Great. She liked Nina who had practically saved her life before and hey, Oliver was supposed to be a doctor. And was from Dracula. She motioned them to go inside, holding the door open with one arm stretched out. They'd have to duck, as if it was a bridge.

"Sherri's in the shower, but I haven't heard a thump yet. I think she hasn't passed out because of that..." Joss shrugged, weariness settling in.

"Yes." She couldn't pinpoint why exactly, but she was. Nina nodded at Joss as she stepped into the apartment. She was small enough that Joss's arm hardly affected her and as soon as she was in, she glanced back to assess the new man. Most likely a doctor, but anything could be been in that bag.

Keeping him in her peripheral vision, she moved her gaze back up to Joss's face, which looked...tired. "She was attacked by the vampire?"

In a compromise with the fact that her head was still feeling light, Sherri had spent most of her shower sitting, letting the water beat down on her as she maybe cried a little. Just a little, though, because it was stupid to cry. Joss had been through the same thing, and Sherri couldn't fall apart because that would set a bad example. By the time she'd washed her hair and carefully tilted so that hot water hit the bites directly, her eyes were only a little bit red.

Before leaving the bathroom, she turned the water back to cold and plugged up the tub, dropping her shirt in when the water was just deep enough. She didn't look in the mirror as she wrapped a towel around herself and squeezed as much water out her hair and into the sink as she could. Maybe she should have been more cautious of the voices in the next room, but she assumed Joss had just turned on the television and slipped out of the steamy bathroom without a thought. "I put my shirt in cold water, maybe that will get the..." Her eyes widened as she noticed they had company. "Blood... out."

Being wrapped in a towel, with her hair in wet tangles down the back of her neck, wouldn't have been a problem in front of just Joss. Really, it wouldn't even have been a problem in front of Nina, though she hated that both of the bite marks, on her neck and shoulder, were so immediately visible (though not as bad as she'd made them out to be in her mind). The strange man, though, that was a problem. She made a sound that she would deny with her last breath was a squeak, and found the energy to dart to her bedroom without taking the time for an explanation.

Joss shut the door as Oliver and Nina came in, leaning against it with a heavy sigh. "We both were. Dracula and Mina. Wasn't she a human in the book?" Her face screwed up, nose scrunched highly. "She tried to stop. I think. Until Dracula came and he was an asshole..."

Babbling made it seem better. Slightly. And calling scary things bad words did make her feel better.

Sherri's arival made her look up and she waved slightly as she realized who was here. "Hey-" And she was gone, squeaking and with the bedroom door shutting. Crap. Joss rolled her eyes, trying to slip into old habits again. Right, she forgot that Sherri had problems with men and nakedness. "Hold on," she said, before heading to the bedroom. She ducked inside. "That's Oliver. The Doctor from Dracula, you know? And you know Nina. They're here to help and stuff."

Nina had seen more than her share of wounds in her life, but none like those that Sherri showed as she stepped out of the bathroom. And then, before she could really look, the woman had darted away again. With a slight frown, she glanced from the man to the doorway Sherri had disappeared into and wondered if they knew each other or if Sherri always responded like that to men in her apartment. "Joss?" She said the name like a question, wanting more information to try to work with.

Trying to dress as quickly as possible, Sherri spared only a second to look over her shoulder at Joss. "Yes, I know Nina. You could have warned me..." But Sherri hadn't really wanted any interruptions, and Joss might have known that. She would try to think the best of it, since the fact that they were there in the first place meant Joss was trying to help. "Thank you for finding a doctor, though. I guess... we both probably need these looked at, just to make sure they're not going to get infected." Did vampires have venom, like mosquitoes? Or was it more like sharing needles?

She skipped her usual jeans and t-shirt and pulled on a white sundress, since it wouldn't do much good to cover up the marks that the doctor was there to inspect. It took just a few seconds to secure her hair in a messy bun, talking as she did so. "Sorry, I was just a little surprised."

"She's fine," Joss called back to Nina through the door. She stuck her head out, "This was just a surprise, y'know?" And the vampire attacks weren't exactly pleasant. She rolled her eyes, turning back to Sherri as she got the rest of her clothes on.

"I can think on occasion," she huffed. Alright it wasn't that often, but she could do the right thing. Heck, she'd stabbed vampires! She could be like Buffy if she only had a stake. And was blonde.

Nina moved towards the sisters, still wary of Oliver. "Did you loose a lot of blood?" She addressed Sherri, but looked to Joss to confirm whatever her sister said. Victims weren't always the most reliant sources of information.

"Not that much." Sherri reached up to touch the marks on her neck, wincing at the flash of increased pain. "More than what the Red Cross would take, probably, but since I'm still up and moving it can't be that bad." She didn't mention that she was feeling a little weak. She was pretty sure that was normal. Since she hadn't looked in the mirror, she was unaware of the fact that she was a little paler than usual. "I probably look worse than I am, right now. I'm just a little shaken up."

Of course, if she could sit down before she fell down, that would be better. Gracefully, so that hopefully no one would realize it was more for her benefit, she moved toward the futon (in its couch formation, since she obviously hadn't used it the night before. "Why don't we all sit down?"

Oliver had the decency to look away when Sherry emerged from the bathroom in only her towel, keeping his eyes averted until she had disappeared again into her bedroom. Sighing, he waited for several moments before moving to join the women. "Yes. Sitting down is best right now," he said after he joined them, his bag in hand. He glanced over the two women who had been injured, his jaw tensing slightly that they had been attacked, but he said nothing in regards to that as he moved to sit beside Sherri on the futon.

He said little, not knowing the women either well or at all in some cases, instead preferring to simply treat their injuries. Though he was a little awkward with his movement, his left hand clearly disabled, he did his best to be gentle yet thorough.

Joss didn't say much, only following Sherri to the couch. She knew she wasn't as injured, but it didn't change her desire to flop down. Her arm rested in her lap as Oliver dealt with Sherri and she waited her turn for..an anti-septic wipe or whatever.

"How'd you guys do?" It wasn't often that she cared and she noticed Oliver's hand - and then looked to Nina. Huh. She didn't remember Nina's fable. "Who's yours again?"

Sherri held still for Oliver to work, trying to be helpful and tilt her head and body in whichever way would make things easier for him. "Thank you," she told him quietly. "I'm fine, really, but it's good to have it looked at and know for sure." She managed a smile that was only a little shaky. "It's mostly shock, I think."

She listened as Joss asked about their nights, and Nina's fable. Though she could have answered that one, she looked at Nina out of the corner of her eye, wondering how open she was with it, since there was certainly someone looking for her.
