Who: Sam and Joanie
What: Semi-awkward talking
Where: 904
When: June 24th, 5:15 PM
Warnings: None anticipated, though with Joanie, swearing is always a possibility. EDIT: PG-style smoochin' going on here people

After work, Joanie had driven her bike back to Bellum and parked it, running up the stairs to her apartment. Though Sam had been terribly drunk the previous night, she assumed that his desire to talk about their situation was real. So she threw down her monstrosity of a purse, picked up the plastic bag with his gift - a stuffed dolphin with a pair of sunglasses magically fixed over its eyes for added hilarity - and left for the ninth floor.

In the days after returning from Russia, Joanie's bruises had gotten worse before starting to get better. And even as they improved, she was terribly self-conscious about them. Her face was caked in foundation to cover up the blue-black hue spread across the bridge of her nose as well as the assorted scratches on her temples. The bruise on her chin was harder to hide, but she did her best, managing to create a mask that at least looked human. Though it was stuffy in this June weather, she wore long sleeves and jeans, wanting to cover up Russia's effects on her as much as possible.

She stood outside the door to 904, chewing on her lower lip for a moment before rapping lightly on it. After a moment, she knocked more loudly before standing back and waiting.

"Does that actually work?" Sam had never tried, though he imagined the joyous feeling that came along with popping bubble wrap could only help. "I can think of other stress relieving activities," he murmured, smiling against her skin. "But bubble wrap, sure, that works too."

"Yeah, it does," she replied with a slight nod. She could feel the smile and shivered at it, both intrigued and nervous at the same time. Of course, she knew they wouldn't be "stress relieving" now. It was almost convenient, how they were just injured enough to not get too close too quickly. "I'll make you some." In a day or two. As much as she hated to admit it, she was still not up for madcap magic after their Russia trip. Her entire body ached from the beating it received, which made focusing and pouring herself into something more difficult.

He laughed quietly at the bubble wrap offer, reaching up to twist his fingers through her hair. "Don't worry about...making me anything. Just get better," he mumbled in between kisses at the very top of her jawline. Of course, by that he meant that he wasn't going to push her into anything. He could wait until she was ready, and plus he wasn't exactly fit to mambo right now what with the injuries. Patience was a virtue, after all. And for some reason, Sam figured that Joanie just wasn't as...experienced?

It was very difficult to speak when her jaw was being kissed, though Joanie managed it thanks to her dedication to the art of never shutting up. "I am getting better," she replied stubbornly, giving him a slight hug around the shoulders. "And the same goes for you. No heavy lifting." She paused, turning to press her nose against the side of his head with a stifled giggle. "And no mad science until you're well enough to run from whatever abomination you create."

"No mad science? But that's my job. I'm a science experiment myself. I mean, at least you all turn into human things," he sighed in mock exasperation - well, sort of human. It was probably debatable at this point, what some people were during the full moon. "But okay, I won't exert myself." He held her chin and kissed her softly on the lips. "Since you asked nicely."

"Not all of us," she pointed out. "There's the Beast, who isn't human. Oh and we have a wolf. Who tried to eat someone at some point." She smiled like this somehow made it better. Returning the kiss, she ran her fingers through his hair and pulled back with a laugh. "So does that mean that I can get whatever I want if I ask nicely? Suddenly the prospect of an army of minions doesn't seem so far away."

"The Beast can talk though," Sam pouted, because good lord, did he hate not being able to talk when that tiger was in control. Just for that he sort of wished that he wouldn't be very present when Shere Khan was driving, because it was torture to have to hear him blabber on and on about what a ridiculous ape Sam was. "There's a wolf? I'll see if I can look him up."

He smiled, eyes crinkling at the corners. "I don't know, maybe..." he said mysteriously. "I kind of like you, so..."

As he mentioned looking the wolf up, she stared at him. "He. Eats. People." she repeated, expression bland. "What part of that would you want to look up?" Honestly, the less she knew of all the weird fables, the better. Joanie didn't want to get involved in all of the insanity that Bellum's residents created for themselves. The building was crazy enough on its own, after all - it didn't need help.

Grinning, she grabbed one of his hands, tugging on it childishly. "Enough to get me a pony?" she asked, doing her best to hold in her laughter. It lasted for a second before she burst, snickering and giggling like a child.

"So does Shere Khan," Sam said casually, and not only did thay tiger eat people but he vastly enjoyed it. "I'm kidding though, I won't have drinks with the wolf.".

A pony! Sam gasped, as if appalled. "What? Well, I'll see what I can do. It'll be a My Little Pony. You can brush its hair." He snickered and grabbed Joanie with his free hand, curling around the back of her neck, leaning in and kissing her noisily.

Oh, right. "Well, when you bring that up, maybe you two can be the best of friends." She wrinkled her nose. "Just please don't run around chowing down on other residents."

A My Little Pony? Feh! Joanie shook her head. "No, it's not the-" As he practically lunged, she let out a sharp squeal of surprise, dissolving into laughter as he leaned in for the kiss. She laughed against his lips, thoroughly amused by his noisy bravado. "Sto-ho-hoop!" she protested while laughing, returning the kiss despite her whining.

He was glad that Joanie was laughing, and smiling, and both seemed to be genuine. She probably hadn't been doing much of that lately. "You started it," Sam chuckled, playfully om-nom-ing on her neck. "And sure, I promise that Shere Khan won't run around trying what's on the dinner cart. It's the least I could do."

"Did not," she replied stubbornly, laughing again as he "nommed" on her neck. "And it really is. We don't need half the building disappearing to feed his stripey ass."

"No, we don't. His stripey ass?" Sam laughed at that, but then groaned, his face still buried in the safety of Joanie's hair. "I can't stand that tiger. Having a tolerable fable would have been preferred." He wanted to go back to whomever assigned the fables and beat them over the head with a large blunt object. Where was the 'return' counter?

"Yes, his stripey ass," she repeated at his question. As he complained about his fable, she frowned, reaching up to pat his head consolingly with one hand as she looped the other arm around his shoulders, hugging him. "I'm sorry," she said, meaning it. Though she hated the Wicked Witch in many ways, her time with the psycho bitch in her head had given her at least a little perspective. The fact that so many random people now knew about her magic didn't really bother her anymore. In fact, she almost wanted people to know. She was talented, the witch had said so herself. It was only a matter of time before she became truly powerful as well. "But you only have to deal with him once a month. And I know people are talking about trying to find a way to prevent this...or at least make it less...huge."

"There must be a way. I'm not banishing myself to the woods every month either. Yours isn't so bad though," he smiled. "Even if she thinks I'm...ridiculous. Don't worry, the tiger agrees too. At least they have that in common." It was weird, to think of themselves as having to share a mind, and a body, but that was the Bellum oddness for you.

"Clearly they'll be best friends," she said dryly, sighing afterward. "This...this whole full moon situation sucks. But we'll be able to get through it." Running both hands through his hair, she looked at him directly. "If everyone else can do it, so can you." Smiling, she leaned forward to place a light kiss on his lips.
