Who: Group Delta
What: A Massacre With Dancing!
Where: The Hotel
When: Feb. 14, 1929, Evening
Warnings: TBA
Notes: This post will be done party post style. See this post for more details!

All was quiet on the North Side on St. Valentine's Day. A party was set up in a hotel ballroom on the North Side of town, red paper hearts attached to the walls and a banner declaring "Happy St. Valentine's Day!" hung from the buffet table by hotel workers. People exchanged cards in the street and put their cards in the mail, gathering at friends' houses for parties and meeting lovers everywhere from board rooms to back alleys. This was a day for lovers, not for bloodshed.

Well. At least for now.

Theo had reluctantly put down his food and followed Miles following his hat. It seemed his friend had somehow managed to find a blonde and a redhead, and while at the moment food would be better, he had to admit that normally he'd consider this a good thing. The flashing lights, however? Not so good at all. "This is not the sort of soiree I savor." It took a moment to notice the blonde was weeping - he wasn't the most observant in the world. "Shh, the police aren't something to be sad over. Well, only sometimes."

The roguish things he had fantasized doing to the redhead in that charmed, yet brief moment of acknowledgement (which was decorated by a devilish and pleased grin.) surely exhausted any infiltrating mind readers. Some of them perhaps even quit; wept for mercy on their souls.

"Saaaraaa." he'd theatrically drawled.

"Listen, La Blue Eyes." If anyone had failed to notice yet, all people who remained unnamed within the first ten minutes of meeting Miles were secured with a nick name. He of course, spoke to the girl who once looked ever so upset. "My associate," he'd motioned to Theo, who he was happy on the arrival of. "Is absolutely right. And sometimes is like, now. I'm a criminal. I'm a loner, Dottie, a rebel. And we all need to leave, because the alcohol here is not allowed."

For the first time, aside from his eyes casting their usual zany gleam, there also existed a graveness--he was for once being very faintly serious.

It had to be a man, because, you see, it always was. Anya didn't tell the blonde that he wasn't worth it, because when you cried like that over someone they always were, at least to the person doing the crying. She brushed Isobel's hair off her shoulder, and she nodded toward Jareth and his 'associate.'

"They're right, honey, we should get going. I spent last night in jail, and I think they probably still remember us, and none too fondly," she said, touching Miles' shoulder. "You can introduce me to your friend outside, Jareth."

Since she didn't look likely to move much on her own, Theo grabbed the blonde's arm and started tugging her along. "Dangerous to delay, then. M keeps getting manhandled in the midst of the most interesting moments." Well, it was only once, but it seemed all too likely that it would happen again if they didn't get moving. Then, because the blonde seemed so awfully sad, he plucked the hat off his own head and placed it on hers. No one could be unhappy while wearing such a wonderful hat, he thought. Besides, it shaded her teary eyes a bit, and he didn't want someone assuming he was a total stranger's abusive boyfriend.

He winked at Miles and the redhead, who seemed to possibly be named Sara, except she called Miles by the wrong name so he would wait for the introduction. "You two can feel free to hide behind me. There must be some use in being tall as a tree."

Hm, was it too obvious this wasn't his first escape?

"Yes, your majesty." He'd deposited that felicitous agreement to the redhead with a salute once they'd entered the ballroom. It was the only reasonable way to get to the back exit. Back exits, heretofore, were lucky, at least to him. "We'll all find somewhere to hide and get acquainted."

Well, how nice of Theo, Miles had thought, as he'd purloined the sight of the event of the hat rotation unfolding . That's just the sort of hat no one could be unhappy in.

And that's when the shit hit the fan.
