Who: Group Delta
What: A Massacre With Dancing!
Where: The Hotel
When: Feb. 14, 1929, Evening
Warnings: TBA
Notes: This post will be done party post style. See this post for more details!

All was quiet on the North Side on St. Valentine's Day. A party was set up in a hotel ballroom on the North Side of town, red paper hearts attached to the walls and a banner declaring "Happy St. Valentine's Day!" hung from the buffet table by hotel workers. People exchanged cards in the street and put their cards in the mail, gathering at friends' houses for parties and meeting lovers everywhere from board rooms to back alleys. This was a day for lovers, not for bloodshed.

Well. At least for now.

"No? Leaving footprints right up to where I was? Not closing the door fully? Not locking it behind you?" Aiden didn't even know if half of what he was talking about was true or not, but in his anger his mind provided all sorts of excuses to be furious at the biologist who was almost the cause for yet another bout of incarceration. "Shoving the money in my hand like it was filthy? Why did it even take you so long in there? It's not rocket science! Open the register, grab, run!"

Aiden kicked the snow off his shoes and ran a hand over his face, feeling the stubble under his fingers with a scowl. Still hadn't shaved, still wearing the same clothes ... if there were any police around here, he was screwed beyond belief. And speaking of - where were they? Archer had dragged them to a hotel and while it didn't look bad, it did look like something was going on. He peered out from around the alcove corner. There were a lot of decorations. A Valentine's day party? Huh.

"Looks like something's going on. Maybe we can mingle and get out the back way." Because going out the front? Never successful. At least, it hadn't been so far. "Think you can keep from causing a mess long enough for us to get out of here?" He smirked when Archer hit himself in the skull, knowing that the voice in there must be just as disappointed and angry as he was.

Such needless antagonism, Van Helsing sighed, which Aiden countered with a swift thought of he completely deserves it.

As Aiden picked at him about how long he had spent in the shop, Archer snarled, face twisted with rage. "I was being careful, exactly what you should have been doing instead of lurking about like a goddamned serial killer!" Glaring, he took a few steps towards the mouth of the alcove, feeling pain shoot up from his feet into his legs. His toes were still frigid, and moving them was excruciating.

"It was your own fault for being careless," Griffin said coldly. Everything in his voice was disappointment and disdain. "You didn't watch. You should have been looking for police and expecting them to target him." It seemed that Griffin had taken Aiden's side, if only to lecture Archer.

As Aiden peered out into the hotel, Archer ran his hands over his face, trying to calm down. His body was loaded on adrenaline and fueled by both pain and rage. He didn't know if he wanted to collapse or punch something until every bone in his body shattered. Aiden's snide comment made him glare viciously. "I don't know, Aiden," he replied icily. "Do you think that you can avoid looking like a blatant criminal long enough for us to escape?"

"I don't look like a serial killer," Aiden snapped. "I'd say that's more your department - do you ever go out in the sun, doctor?" He said the word with a sneer in it, despite knowing that a PHD likely could have gotten him a better job than he one he had now. "At least I don't have to run around naked to get anything done." Again, ignoring the fact that it was Archer's ability that had gotten him out of jail in the first place. You're very good at that, Van Helsing said wryly. Perhaps you should remove your blinders, if only this once.

With a faint snarl of fury, Aiden pulled off his coat and folded it over one arm, glaring at Archer.

"Do whatever you want. I'm getting out of this place, and I'll be more than happy to not get back to our mutual hotel room." Which still left him alone in Chicago in 1929 with the police wanting to throw his ass in jail and knowing him on sight, but he still had most of his money, plus what Archer had stolen, and could probably buy some new clothes and hitch a train ride out of town. Or just find a different part of Chicago to hide out in.

"At least I contribute positively to society!" he barked, collecting his jacket in his arms. "How many times has a philosophical historian done anything other than drain his very academia of resources and prosperity?"

As Aiden angrily told him to do whatever he wanted while forfeiting their hotel room, Archer snarled. "Fine!" he replied. "I am perfectly amenable to that arrangement!" Straightening up, face seemingly both red and white at the same time, he stepped out of the alcove and turned to him. "Enjoy your evening, Mr. Shepard." He said the name like an insult before turning on his heel and stalking into the party taking place in the hotel.

"The only thing I drain is enthusiasm, doctor!" Aiden practically yelled at Archer's retreating back, teeth grit and fists clenched. Arrogant prick, he thought viciously, which lead to Van Helsing making a tsking noise that was decisively ignored. Good riddance to him - Aiden didn't need anybody's help to survive this place, least of all some criminal with an inability to rob a store properly even when he was invisible.

He waited until he'd calmed down a little before moving toward the party as well, hoping that Archer would make a fool of himself somewhere and get arrested again while he, Aiden, laughed from somewhere outside the jail.
