Russia, Day 4
Who: Group Xi
What: Dinner for the Grand Duke
Where: Alexander Palace
When: Day 4 (OOC, this will probably be open through the weekend)
Warnings: Could be anything. It's a party post.
Notes: Put your character's location in the subject line!

Dinner is an opulent affair.

The formal dining room has place settings for all scheduled attendees. Darcy and Helena are seated at either side of the Grand Duke, who keeps taking liberties with his hands that everyone at the table can see (including Vlad). The dinner is informal, and parties can dine at their leisure while enjoying the other activities of the evening.

The ballroom is chandelier lit for the evening, and an orchestra plays formal dance music, though the collection of nationalities present means that anyone can dance without standing out (as long as they're appropriately attired). There are curtained alcoves off the ballroom that afford some privacy for those so inclined. Lvov will stop his spies periodically, reminding them of the price of betraying him, while Pavel will be watching Joanie from a distance throughout the evening.

[Guests: Helena, Darcy, Vlad, Luther, Joanie, Nicky, Ella, Tegan]

Palace employees are all working the evening of the dinner/dance, and they have access to clothing in the guests' rooms (should they want to crash the festivities), and to the entire palace (should they want to work).

[Palace employees: Oliver, Will, Sam, Rosalie, Jane!Vaughn]

Outside the palace, the mob has seen Vlad, and they remain convinced he's Rasputin and that Jane!Vaughn and Ella are his witches. Even Alexandra seems to feel the same way, as she keeps drawing him aside and whispering to him. The mob is also still in pursuit of a Beast and a Tiger. Therefore, our village-hangers-on have been forced to hide in and within the palace, to keep from getting pitchforked. This group better sneak a bath and some clothing if they want to enter the palace proper.

[Hiding in the Palace: Daniel, Sebastian, Lily, Bernadette ]

[This is a party style thread. Put your character's location within the palace in your subject line. Have dinner, mingle, dance, sneak into one of those alcoves, go take a bath in a huge claw-foot tub, steal clothes, eat the Grand Duke for hitting on your woman, have fun!]

"Good!" she barked at his reply, dropping her arms so that she could clench her fists at her sides. She was about to search for the doorknob when something wrapped around her wrist, dragging her forward through the darkness.

Her feet could barely keep up, shuffling awkwardly in the foreign heels. She found herself half-falling against him, gripping his shoulder for support as she found her balance. And just as she did that, he threw it all off again. The kisses came hard and fast, a complete surprise, and it was all she could do to keep from moaning. Her fist in his shirt was a small protest that soon faded, and though she felt a small jolt of panic at the fact that she was in a small closet, in the dark, with a guy she barely knew, it wasn't enough to make her leave. Not yet.

At the final 'so there,' she let out a small sound that was a cross between a sigh and a whimper. "Okay," she breathed, unsure if her heart was racing from excitement or panic. "You made your point." She settled on a bit of both. "Very well. You should've been a lawyer."

Sam's heart was about to fly out of his chest too and he had to take a few deep breaths so he wouldn't faceplant onto the floor. "A lawyer, huh?" He laughed shakily. "I'm sure that would have made my mom proud."

Actually, being in a closet was kind of exciting, but he wasn't about to violate Joanie in here or do something disgusting like grope her as much as he wanted to, so he reached for the doorknob to let them out. Now wasn't the time or place - not when they had an audience in their heads.

Oh, thank you so much for remembering me, you inglorious vermin.

"Alright, back to Hell," Sam sighed. "I swear if anyone even looks at you the wrong way I will garrote them with a knitting needle. I'm just so ready to blow this popsicle stand."

Back in Boring World (No Narnia)

Biting her lower lip, Joanie let out a dry, breathless laugh. "When she finds out you're the king of tigers, I'm sure she'll be thrilled." As she felt his arm move, her gaze immediately snapped down to it despite the fact that she couldn't see anything. Her muscles tensed, prepared for the worst, though he was simply opening the door. Well. That was nice.

They stumbled out of the closet, and Joanie did her best to not look completely blown out of her mind. As she pushed the door shut, she avoided the confused and disapproving gazes of a few of the other guests. Self-consciously, she started to reach for her hair, smoothing her hands over it as they took a few steps into the hallway.

"You and me both," she grumbled. "And I hope that fucking Beast and witch hunt thing was a joke. I am not okay with..." She trailed off, not wanting to make it obvious that she was a witch to those who may have been listening. "...the smell of burning flesh. It does terrible things to my sinuses."

"She's dead," he said about his mother, feeling a twist of something within him as he usually did when this subject was brought up. Sam still hadn't gotten the hang of avoiding the brick in his stomach, not yet. "So no chance in her finding out I'm royalty. Or fake royalty."

King of the Jungle, not just tigers! Idiot, Shere Khan scoffed, clearly offended that Joanie did not know about the jungle monarchy.

"He would like you to know that he's King of the Jungle," Sam added before they opened the door. "And I hate him, also let that be known."

Nope, nothing to see here, folks! Not like any distinguished individuals were making out in the closet five minutes prior. Sam didn't say anything yet - why incriminate himself to these people - and just adjusted the collar of his shirt, clearing his throat. "I'm not okay with it either," he noted as they nonchalantly walked off. "Though it wasn't a joke. I saw some, yesterday. So we need to be careful."
