Who: Miles, Shane, Jasper, Aiden, Lone, Deirdre, Joss, and Anya. Phew!
What: Jailbreak.
Where: The jail.
When: Day 3, early morning.
Warnings: TBA
Notes: You can now feel free to get going on your threads. You can find more information in the plot post!

The people in the cells around the Bellum tenants had thinned during the day and swelled again at night, many coming in dressed in evening wear as they had, though more of them were intoxicated. The police were non-responsive to inquiries about how long it would be before they were charged.

Then three new men were thrown into the men's holding cell in the early hours of the morning on the third day of their forced visit to the 20's. Dawn was a short ways off on the morning of February 14, 1929, and a massacre that would make history had yet to happen. Not long off, though, not long at all.

Anya knelt in front of him in the snow a moment, and she looked into those intelligent blue eyes. "You're a stubborn thing, ain't you?" she asked, rubbing the sides of his muzzle. "How about you tell me why you ain't changed back to a man yet," she suggested, willing to be distracted for a moment. Even that long, however, made her teeth chatter without the coat and shoes.

She didn't give him a chance to answer before she stood and ran past him toward the water; autopilot.

He didn't relax when she knelt in front of him, but he did hold still. He considered answering, wondering if that would keep her distracted long enough to convince her to get back into her coat and go somewhere warm, disarmed a little by her hands on his muzzle, but she was already running past him by then. No thoughts, then, just adrenaline. If she got in the water, she would likely die.

He chased after her as fast as he could run, and leaped toward her, trying to knock her to the ground before she could reach the water. It was desperate, and it wasn't gentle - but anything was better than the alternative of her getting to the lake and freezing to death.

He managed to knock her down, of course. She was hardly any match for a full grown wolf, and she rolled onto her back in the snow, the haze clearing from her mind for a moment. She knew that she'd be warmer, safer, better in the water, but she didn't know how she knew that, and she was so chilled through that she couldn't make her teeth stop chattering to explain it to him - hell, she didn't understand it herself.

He stood over her, waiting for her to get up. "No." It was firm, and made obvious that he'd knock her down as many times as he had to. "This way." He pointed his muzzle toward the buildings, then looked back at her. She could get up and follow him, or he would drag her across the snow with his teeth. No more dead people. He was getting tired of them, and he wasn't going to let her lie there in the snow, or jump into the water and never be seen again.

It took her a minute to roll onto her knees and then onto her bare feet, but she finally did, and she nodded. Her coat was covered in snow now, but she slipped it on, the chattering so advanced at this point that she had trouble closing her fingers around the sleeves. In the end, however, she managed. You belong in the water, the voice in her head said angrily, and Anya didn't think it liked the wolf very much just then, but she followed wordlessly. Maybe he would know where a hot bath was.
