Who: Everyone!
What: Transformation Plot Post
Where: All over.
When: Moonrise on the 28th.
Warnings: All kinds, I expect.

The moon slipped up past the horizon full, round, and white. Its effects had been predicted, though perhaps not fully believed by the residents of the building.

Moonlight streamed through the windows of the building, washing the city in pale light. For the tenants of Bellum Letale, where ever they were, scattered in the night, it had a tangible effect.

Change rippled through the building, much as it had over a month before. But this was not simply a twitch in the fabric of things, gone in the blink of an eye. It was a rolling change, gradual as the moonrise, tangible, and, in some cases, likely terrifying in its inexorability. People became what they were, what they ought to have been, and what they weren't.

The moon was up, and trouble was about to run high in Bellum.

[Notes: Remember that the events of last month still apply-I.E, those who became vampires will be vampires when they take on their fable form, the Frog Prince will still be human after being turned back last plot, etc. Whether the fables are aware a month has passed since they were last around is up to the players. This log posted with the anon account so that the mods do not wake up tomorrow with 100 notifications in their gmail. Go forth and plot!]

Even though the ship didn't offer very much protection, she still breathed a sigh of relief when they finally reached it. At the very least it was safer than standing out there in the open, where the monster could easily kill them with one swipe. She shivered at the thought of death, which seemed too impossible to even be real. She tried to keep as low to the ground as possible, wishing that whatever spell had brought them here would take them back at any moment.

Cinderella was too busy watching its claws, knowing that she would only have mere moments to get out of the way if it did decide to strike, so she hadn't noticed the monster's weakness. All it took was a moment's distraction, however, for the creature's hand to come crashing down. She let out a strangled cry as a wave of sand threatened to blind them both, turning away and throwing herself to the ground in an attempt to avoid a further attack. She didn't care about her dress, not right now, not when there were more important things to worry about. She quickly scrambled to her feet, swiping at the sand on her face. "Its legs?" She blinked, focusing on the supposed weak spot with a sudden burst of understanding.

She watched helplessly as Sinbad circled around the monster with his saber, looking from him to the creature's legs and back again. It took a few moments, but she thought she understood - except the cyclops kept following him with that horrible eye. How was he supposed to get a clear shot at his legs? She sucked in her breath sharply, thinking about what the knights in her stories would have done. Maybe she couldn't fight, but she could help, as terrified as she was.

"You, sir monster! Look, over here!" She dashed out from her hiding spot with a loud cry, kicking up sand and waving her arms in an attempt to distract the cyclops. It wasn't the safest idea, but perhaps if it paid attention to her, it would forget that Sinbad was there. "Here! Come this way!" She took a few steps back, trying to keep her hands from shaking. Please, let this work, she silently prayed.

When she darted out in front of the creature, Diego felt his heart stop. No, that's not what he wanted at all! Blood rushed past his ears as he watched the cyclops begin to lumber towards her, clicking its menacing claws and snapping its jaws together. However, he didn't freeze. He couldn't freeze. Just a moment's pause could mean her death. And he wasn't about to let that happen.

As the cyclops focused its one eye on Cinderella as she kicked the sand and waved her arms in an enormously distracting display, Diego ran out from behind the metal beam, saber held stiffly at his side. The creature didn't see him, its attention focused solely on the young woman. Diego made a beeline for its legs, and though the top of his head reached only three-quarters of the way up its shin, he readied his saber and plunged it between two of the armor-like plates covering its massive foot.

The cyclops let out a tremendous shriek that shook the metal beams of the gutted ship, and for a moment Diego feared that he'd be rendered deaf by the noise. However, he kept his wits enough to pull the saber from the cyclops' foot and run to the other, giving it the same treatment.

Hurt and confused, the creature stumbled forward, buckling as it tried to rest its weight on two injured feet. With a shriek, it fell, swiping through the air as it went. When it had finally fallen, a plume of sand enshrouded the beach. Its feet and hands were waving wildly, dangerous claws clicking and grasping for Diego. He dodged as best he could, though was knocked off his feet several times as he ran about the creature, stabbing it over and over in every place he could reach.

As he moved to stab the creature in the neck, he felt a tremor run up his arms. The saber plunged into its flesh, causing it to scream wildly. Its razor-like claws cut through the air as it reached for him. Diego was taken by surprise and flung through the air, arcing over the beach before skidding to a halt just feet from Cinderella. With a groan, he sat up, feeling the draft left when the creature's claws sliced his shirt - and a portion of his abdomen - in two.

Holding his head, Diego stood shakily, looking over at the girl. "Are you alright?" he asked, cringing as the cyclops let out a final cry. It was full of dread and hate, anger and sadness. And finally, there was nothing. The creature lay in the sand, motionless.

That sick feeling came back again. The world melted and twisted, and within moments, they were standing in Bellum Letale, on the stairwell just outside the eleventh floor. It was as if they had never left.

Gasping, Diego looked around, finding Cinderella and instinctively grabbing onto her arms. "Are you alright?" he demanded, breathless and wheezing. Though he felt as if he had never left the building, his skin was dotted with the same sweat that had risen when he saw the cyclops. Thin rivulets of blood leaked down his abdomen from the slice across it, but he wasn't about to acknowledge his aches and pains yet. "Cinderella, were you hurt?" he asked, shaking her slightly.

Cinderella kept back up even as she tried to distract the creature, her cries becoming loud shouts instead of words as she desperately tried to keep its attention off Sinbad. She saw him dart forward and felt a surge of hope that maybe, just maybe, this plan wasn't as foolish as she was beginning to fear it was. Once she saw him plunge the sword into the monstrous foot she stopped waving her arms, the start of a smile tugging at her lips before dying completely when the creature shrieked. She covered her ears with a wince, slipping in the sand and falling to her knees.

She almost looked up too late to see the creature stumble forward, but luckily she caught the movement in the nick of time and pushed herself up, half running and half scrambling for cover before the gigantic monster fell, covering her head with her arms and ducking behind a piece of wood. The creature kept shrieking and she didn't want to look, but she peered around her refuge and watched in horror as Sinbad was flung through the air. "Oh!" She got to her feet a tad unsteadily, concern darkening her eyes when she saw the blood. "I'm alright, but you--"

Before she could even take a step forward everything changed again, their surroundings morphing and twisting and making her feel as though she might faint. She clutched the piece of wood beside her, but it disappeared as the stairwell of Bellum returned and she found herself holding the railing instead. For a moment Cinderella was confused, but relief flooded through her when she realized they were back. They were safe, and the realization almost made her want to sob.

"No," she said after a moment, blinking shaking her head. "No, it didn't hurt me." She felt a little sore and bruised from constantly throwing herself to the ground, but she was in far better condition than he. "But it hurt you. We need to find you some help, something to... to make the blood stop."

When she finally answered his rapid-fire questions, he heaved a sigh of relief. "Oh, good," he breathed, a wan smile on his face. "That was very bold, what you did. Distracting it like that." Releasing her arms, he chuckled, clapping her on the shoulder. "You're a brave woman, eh? I shouldn't be so worried about you!" His hand slid away, falling in place at his side.

Just as he was about to marvel at their conquest of the beast, she pointed out that he was bleeding. Yes, he had noticed that he was feeling funny. Frowning, he glanced down. "What is this?" he asked, pulling his shirt up to bunch around his neck. A long, slender line ran diagonally across his abdomen, just below his ribs. It wasn't terribly deep, but it was bleeding rather heavily. And now that he thought of it, it was a bit sore. "Hmmm. I suppose it did get me after all." Glancing over at Cinderella, he dropped his shirt - even though it only fell to cover his upper chest, as the rest had been torn apart - and shrugged. "Is not so bad. I have a first aid kit in my apartment."

She smiled shyly, her eyes flickering downward for a moment. "I wanted to do something to help. It was the only thing I could think of at the time." She wasn't sure if she would call herself brave or not, but she supposed a coward would have run away or hid the entire time. "You may not be a knight, Sinbad, but you certainly are brave enough to be one. I know grown men who never could have faced a creature like that."

Cinderella had never seen a serious injury before - oh, every so often her stepsisters would cut their finger or something of the like, but it was never like this. The cut was bleeding quite a bit, and to her that meant it was bad. For a moment she considered asking what a first aid kit was, but it did sound familiar. Still, how could he not be concerned that the monster had hurt him? "Are you sure you'll be alright?"

Despite himself, Diego felt a warm smile growing on his face. "Well it worked. We defeated that creature. Together. I couldn't have done it without you." At the compliment, his chest swelled with pride. "My good lady, you are too kind! My head will get so big if you keep saying such things!"

Patting his stomach slightly, he shrugged. "Yes, it's not so bad. I can fix it myself. But for now, I believe we have both had enough adventuring for one night." Offering his arm, he smiled rogueishly. "Please allow me to escort you to your home, Cinderella. I won't sleep well if I cannot be sure that you made it there safely."

"It... certainly was an adventure. I've never done anything like that before." Cinderella had wanted to find something interesting during the short time that she was here, but a spell which transported them to somewhere completely different was far more than she had ever expected. She simply laughed, shaking her head at his modesty.

She wasn't entirely convinced, but he did seem fine, and returning to the apartment for the rest of the night seemed like a very good idea. Tilting her head slightly to the side, she accepted his arm with a gracious smile. "I would like that - thank you."

He chuckled. "It's breathtaking, isn't it? Feeling as if you might die, and then being victorious?" Though he had been terrified, there was a part of him that had been entirely at peace throughout the whole ordeal. It must have been the part that said his name was Sinbad and told stories of drunken old men.

As she took his hand, he smiled sincerely, starting down the stairs. "You said you were on ten floor, yes?"

"Breathtaking?" She looked at him in surprise, not quite sure if that was the word she would have used. She'd only ever heard about adventures like that, and never actually expected something like it to happen to her. THen again... despite the danger, there was a part of her that did feel somewhat exhilarated. Although she still couldn't quite believe what had happened. They still didn't even know how. "I suppose you could say that, yes."

She had to think for a moment before nodding. "Yes - 1004, if I remember correctly." It sounded right, at least.

He laughed. "You be careful, now. It can be addictive, going on adventures. I became an addict, and look at me!" With a smile, he lead her down the stairs, turning into the hallway of floor 10. Though the past hour had been full of confusion and noise, this building alarmed him. It was so quiet. Too quiet, really.

He paused outside 1004, gesturing to it with his free hand. "And here you are, my lady. 1004, safe and sound." He took a step back from her, smiling. "It was a pleasure to meet you, Cinderella." Without warning, he plucked at her right hand, holding it in his and brushing a kiss over her knuckles. "Take care of yourself. I know you will." Winking, he turned his back on her and disappeared from the floor.

Well, that had been a pleasant evening.

"Addicted to adventures, good sir? Well, If I had a companion such as yourself, I suppose it could not be that bad of a thing." She laughed, beginning to relax now that the danger was past and she could remember the excitement rather than the fear.

It was a relief to see the apartment, even though it wasn't technically hers. "It was a pleasure to meet you as well, Sinbad," she said, flushing slightly at the kiss on her hand.

Once he'd left, she turned and entered the apartment with a sigh. She hadn't been tired before, but she certainly was now.
