Who: Everyone!
What: Transformation Plot Post
Where: All over.
When: Moonrise on the 28th.
Warnings: All kinds, I expect.

The moon slipped up past the horizon full, round, and white. Its effects had been predicted, though perhaps not fully believed by the residents of the building.

Moonlight streamed through the windows of the building, washing the city in pale light. For the tenants of Bellum Letale, where ever they were, scattered in the night, it had a tangible effect.

Change rippled through the building, much as it had over a month before. But this was not simply a twitch in the fabric of things, gone in the blink of an eye. It was a rolling change, gradual as the moonrise, tangible, and, in some cases, likely terrifying in its inexorability. People became what they were, what they ought to have been, and what they weren't.

The moon was up, and trouble was about to run high in Bellum.

[Notes: Remember that the events of last month still apply-I.E, those who became vampires will be vampires when they take on their fable form, the Frog Prince will still be human after being turned back last plot, etc. Whether the fables are aware a month has passed since they were last around is up to the players. This log posted with the anon account so that the mods do not wake up tomorrow with 100 notifications in their gmail. Go forth and plot!]

Tegan had tried to explain to James and Tommy what was going to happen, but it was hard to know whether they actually believed her or not. She tried to distract all of them with a story, doors to the apartment locked, and the three of them gathered in the boys' shared room. Tegan knew it wasn't her best story ever, as she kept looking out the window and waiting for something to happen.

And it did.

She had finally started to lose herself in the story she was telling, and it was that which she noticed changing first. It took on a different turn, pirates appearing and mermaids swimming past. She watched as her brothers became lost in it too. James (or was it John?) and Tommy (no... Michael) both watched her with rapt attention. After long minutes, the story completed, she helped tuck both of them into bed, even though something seemed to be wrong with that. John never went to bed this early. But she kissed both their heads, and snuck out after turning off the light.

The rest of the house seemed strange to her, and she wondered for a moment where her parents were. Where Nana was. And why her bed wasn't in the same room as John and Michael, like it always was. Tonight was a very strange night, Wendy decided, and gathered her long nightgown around her legs as she slipped into her own room, quietly getting ready for bed.

Hospital to...the window of 108?
[info]never_old

The hospital room was still and silent beyond the sounds of machines monitoring a beating heart while the clock's second hand ticked slowly on. When the moon rose and the clock ticked over, the boy in the bed changed from the wounded figure in a hospital gown to a wounded, confused Peter Pan. Peter furrowed his brow as he stared up at the ceiling for a moment.

This was stupid. Did he lose to Hook? That's not right at all. Peter Pan NEVER lost, but he felt like he did. Sitting up in bed, Peter irritably tugged out needles in his skin and looked around for his offending shadow.

The offender danced on the wall across the room before zipping out through the open window. Well, he knew where he was going if his shadow knew. There was a strange woman squawking about "escapees" as he wiggled his way out of the window and took a leap off the edge. He never plummeted, instead flew back after his shadow.

"Get back here!" He roared into the open, cool air. It slipped through a window crack and Peter hovered outside it. The girl. He'd seen her before! She told stories to boys like a mother did. She could help him stick his shadow back on and take care of him like a proper mother should.

He lingered for a moment before he tried to open the window further to sneak in.

Wendy had just settled into bed and turned out her light when a shadow seemed to pass her window, blocking the moon for a moment. She wasn't quite sure what could be casting the shadow, but it didn't occur to her to be frightened of it. What was frightening though, was the sound of someone at her window.

She was somehow certain that it had been locked, but as she lay still, she heard it being opened and the sound of someone slipping in. She kept still in bed, covers tugged up close to her ears, but opened her eyes slowly, trying to see if she could catch sight of who was in her room. The shadow passed by again, moving quickly away from the window even though she could still hear someone on that side of the room. She had no idea what was going on, but a quiet thought passed through her mind as if someone had whispered it to her, an almost familiar name: Peter.

If he could only get to his shadow, maybe he wouldn't need no silly girl's help. You're very smart, Peter Pan, he told himself. Very smart indeed!

Unfortunately, his body seemed to have other plans. He hit his back against the window frame and a shock of actual pain lit up his system. His flight was ended rather ungracefully, tumbling comically head over heels to the floor. Another wave of ache and pain washed over him and he grumbled out loud, "Stupid shadow got me hurt!"

His shadow dignified him with a response of pantomiming rude gestures across the room.

Wendy sat up suddenly at the sound of someone falling, the grumble almost lost in the commotion. She tried squinting in the moonlight to see what had happened, but it was still too dim. Reaching out, she turned her bedside lamp on and blinked at the boy on her floor. Before she could say anything, the sight of his shadow on the opposite wall caught her attention, and she stared at its antics for a long moment.

When she finally returned her attention to the boy, still sprawled out on the floor, something sparked in recognition in her mind. She'd never seen him before, but he was familiar. The thought passed through her mind again: Peter.

It slipped past her lips before she could stop it, barely a whisper. "Peter?" She slipped out of bed and knelt next to him on the floor, hand reaching out, but not touching him. "Are you alright, boy?"

Peter's head shot up and his attention was grabbed from his own surly little sulk to the girl in bed. He knew who she was -- Miss Wendy with the brothers. He was still very smart and always remembered their names. They didn't matter right now, because HE did. He was hurting, cranky, and his shadow wouldn't stay still.

He crossed his arms across his chest petulantly, sticking out his bottom lip. "I fought a pirate," he announced to the girl. "And my shadow ran away."

Wendy's eyes went a little wide. "A pirate? That's awful brave of you." She looked at him closer and frowned at the large bruise across his face. "It must have been a very large pirate... That bruise looks awful."

She glanced over at the shadow on the wall, still startled to see it there, but somehow taking it in stride. "You found your shadow though, so that's a good thing at least." She paused, frowning. "Even though it isn't attached..." She tilted her head a bit, thinking. "We'll have to put it back on for you. Can't have it running off on its own."

"He is big. He has a hook," Peter curled his finger into a hook shape and waved it at her. "There's a whole ship of them and I fought them. I won too."

He wasn't sure if that was the truth, but the bravado in his voice made it sound like it was. Tentatively reaching up to touch his face, his mouth turned into another scowl at the tender touch. "I got hurt though." The statement sounded as baffled as he felt. He never was hurt before, but he certainly was now.

Attention turned toward his shadow, he grumbled and stood up. He launched himself at it and tried to grab it with his hands. "It won't stay still!" He cried out as it slipped from his grasp. Pointing at it, he demanded, "Make it listen to me."

Wendy smiled at the tone that Peter took, covering her grin with her hand so that she wouldn't hurt his feelings. He sounded much like Michael did when he was proud of himself. She pushed the smile away though when he mentioned being hurt. She reached out and finally touched him, pushing his hair back off his face. "Does it hurt awfully?"

Her hand fell away as she turned toward the shadow again. She looked at it sternly, and then to Peter. "Maybe if you ask it nicely?"

Peter frowned at the shadow then at Wendy. He was not going to ask a shadow nicely! He was supposed to be in charge here. He furrowed his brow as he thought. Well, maybe if he DID ask it nicely. See? He is the most clever boy.

"Shadow will you please come over here so I can reattach you and we can fight pirates?" He asked his shadow in a loud voice, as if he couldn't tell the own volume. The shadow pantomimed that it was thinking for a moment before it zipped across the room again and landed in a heap at Wendy's feet.

Wendy laughed when the shadow fell to the floor, almost as stubborn as Peter seemed to be. She reached out to touch it, marveling at the way it felt like silk in her fingers. Holding it in her hand, she got up and started moving around the room, searching for a needle and thread. "We'll sew it back on and then you'll be as good as new. Just a little fix."

She managed to find a sewing kit in her drawers, and brought it and the shadow back to Peter, sitting on the floor next to him again. Reaching out, she tapped his foot and smiled. "Right foot first, please."

Peter flopped down on the floor next to Wendy, grumpily making a noise of discontent that he jostled whatever wounds that were clearly hurting his back. He offered her one gangly limb, setting his foot on her knee and giving her a smile.

"Make sure it doesn't come off," Peter told her seriously, "I am no use without my shadow."

Wendy frowned a bit at his hurt sounds, but smiled at the foot in her lap, even though it was sort of dirty. She laughed softly as she squeezed it, trying not to tickle, even though it was tempting.

"I'll do my best," she told him, just as serious as he had been. Holding the shadow up, she managed to find the right way it should go, then lined it up as she grabbed her needle and thread. She made a face before beginning to sew though. "This might poke a bit. I'm not sure..."

She stuck her tongue between her teeth in concentration as she sewed, doing her best to stick his shadow on properly again. Something seemed strange about sewing a shadow, but she had more important things to worry about in the moment.

"I'm a boy, so I won't cry," he told her in a matter of fact tone. Even if it did hurt, he wasn't going to cry. That was only for girls. Not that the sewing actually hurt, rather it tickled in fact. Wiggling his toes, Peter stifled a laugh behind his hands.

When she had finished the right foot, Peter switched over to offer her his left foot. "This one and then you can help me out with the other hurts, okay?"

Wendy nodded seriously at his determination to not cry, even though she didn't see anything wrong with boys crying if they needed to. But boys could be strange sometimes, so she let him believe that. Instead, she poked at his wiggly toes with her finger. "Hold still!"

She started on the left foot right away, getting a few stitches done before she looked up and frowned at him. "Other hurts? There's more?" She suddenly cared very much that Peter be alright.

Peter obeyed only because he reasoned that he didn't want his shadow to be put on sideways. Then he would have the silliest looking shadow in Neverland! Peter Pan would never have a silly looking shadow. Maybe a mermaid would. Or Hook. Peter bet Hook's shadow ran away all the time cause he was a pirate.

While he amused himself with the thought of Hook having to chase down his shadow, Peter watched her stitch away at his shadow. He nodded a little when she asked about his other hurts, "Uh huh. Here," he pointed at his chest, "and here." And pointed at his back for emphasis. "So help me....Please." Peter remembered SOME manners at least.

Wendy finished stitching his shadow on before snipping the thread and looking at him very seriously. "Are they quite bad hurts? I don't know that I can help very bad ones."

She took a deep breath and nodded to herself, knowing that she had to at least try. "But... let me see them. I will do my best."

Peter shrugged a little, "I don't remember if they're bad. But they hurt." He scooted forward until he was right next to her. Without prompting, the tunic came up over his head. It was okay cause it was Wendy and Wendy could see him like this.

What she saw, of course, was a multitude of bandages tied across his abdomen and wrapped around his back. There was barely a peek of stitches and the ugliness of the wounds from the bandage covers. "They hurt." His voice sounded a little sad.

Wendy's eyes went sad at the sight of Peter so bandaged. "Oh Peter," she whispered, voice so soft. Without thinking, she reached out to touch one of the bandages, her fingers light as feathers as they touched. "You were hurt bad, weren't you?"

She couldn't say what prompted her to do so, but she raised her fingers back to her lips, kissing them lightly before laying them back against Peter's chest, just enough pressure for him to be able to feel it through the bandages. She hoped it might help, though she wasn't quite sure how it would. Since he was already bandaged, she couldn't help with that, and the kiss was the same as she would do for John and Michael when they were hurt.

Peter nodded his head a little, suddenly filled with an almost overwhelming sadness from a dark part of his mind. He leaned in to Wendy, ducking his head and letting his hair obscure his face. "There's a lot of bad pirates. But I won in the end," he said with a note of finality.

The way Wendy touched his bandages made Peter watch in curiosity. The pain seemed to fade slowly away with the touch. He looked up at her with a voice filled with delight, "See I knew I was the smartest boy! I knew you'd fix it! I'm really smart, you know. Cleverest boy in Neverland."

Peter pulled back to tug on his tunic top again, grinning as his head popped out from the collar. "I feel much better, Wendy Darling."

He rose to his feet, posing in his most dramatic pose to see his shadow actually attached and obeying. "It worked! And now we can have fun!"

Wendy laughed again. "I'm very glad, Peter!"

She spared a glance for the shadow as well, smiling when it stayed attached and followed Peter's moves. "What sort of fun?" She reached both her hands up toward him, hoping that he might help her up from the floor.

Peter took her hands in his, looking at her for a moment. He couldn't pinpoint what he felt when he looked at the girl in front of him. Honestly, all he wanted to do was to pull her close and let her hug him for awhile. Shaking himself out of his thoughts, Peter gently tugged her to her feet.

"This type," he told her, not letting go of her hands and they lifted off the ground. "I want you to come with me, Wendy. I want us to fly."

Wendy clung to Peter's hands desperately when she realized that her feet were no longer on the ground, gasping in surprise. She felt her heart jump up into her throat even as she laughed at the feeling of being in the air.

A second later, her expression went serious again as she shook her head and started to dip back closer to the ground. "John and Michael, Peter. I can't just leave them..."

There was a quiet cough from near her door, and when she turned, still in the air, John was standing in the doorway. "Wendy. ...Tegan." The other name made her blink and other memories started filtering in again. "You should go," he continued, smiling at her. "I can watch Tommy. Michael. I can watch him. We'll be okay. ...just take us along next time, okay?" She was about to argue when she felt the gentle tug on her hands of Peter rising higher into the air.
