Fables Plot Public Post!
Who: Public
What: The Open Post for Public Threading for the Epic Fable Plot
Where: Throughout the building.
When: 12:01
Warnings: Any number of crazy things could end up in here.
Notes: Alright! This post is for public threads only, and will be run party style. Anyone can jump into a thread at any time--just use your judgment! Feel free to hop around, go to different parts of the building, and mingle through the madness.

12:01. The beginning of a new day, just broken in, still fresh. Most of the building was sleeping, as decent people ought to be at such an hour.

The building, down at its foundations, was restless. A storm had been gathering for the past week, in its joints and its doorways, in its windows and its keyholes. 12:01, the storm broke over Bellum.

It was as if the building stretched, yawned, shook itself. There was a shudder in reality, as if the air itself was nothing more than a funhouse mirror. Faster than you could snap your fingers and the thing was done, set into motion before the darkest hours of the morning had yet come around.

A twitch, a snap, a static shock.

And then the changes started.

((OOC: Alright guys, go crazy! Feel free to post your location in the header of your comment so people can do a quick visual scan for the right comment and the right location. Mingle! Chat! Fight! Tackle one another!))

"There's nothing sharp in the apartment," she told the other woman somewhat bemusedly. "Someone got rid of it all before I came." Rosalie stepped into the bathroom to look for bandages, but peered back out when she heard Daniel coming up the stairs, making such a racket.

"Ella!" She rushed back in, tugging on the other woman's elbow, trying to make her sit down again. "It's just Daniel! You're injured; you have to stay still." She thought she vaguely remembered telling Daniel something along the same lines when she had first met him, but she wasn't sure. Frowning at Daniel because he was scaring her patient, she waved him back. "Now come on, let's get something to stop the bleeding. You can come with me if you want." Rosalie was still a little unsure as to what there was to be scared of, but she needed Ella calm and still and if being in a different room than Daniel did that, then so be it.

His eyes went immediately to Rosalie as she rushed in, and simultaneously he tensed as if to spring or flee, ears pressing back. Eventually he realized that she was not a threat, however, and his fur came back down from the bristle, and he watched them both with what appeared to be rapt curiosity. He could smell Ella's blood, which he did not like, and the enduring fragrance of roses, which he did. The combination made him twitch his black nose, but he moved neither forward nor back, nor did he actually respond to either of them.

He sat down, his back end largely leonine as his front end was bearish, so in the end the pose was very lazy and sphinx-like. He tracked any movement with the large blue eyes, but otherwise seemed undisturbed by they're presence. Once they stopped dashing around and making screeching noises, he turned his attention to the scratches on his chest and shoulders.

Ella let Rosalie usher her into the master bedroom, though she kept looking over her shoulder curiously at the Beast as she was led down the hall. Once they were inside, she sat on the bed, just out of view of the door, but she occasionally peered over to look at him. "He isn't that frightening," she finally said, as if she'd just now decided and still wasn't absolutely certain of the decision.

She watched him a moment longer, then she looked up at Rosalie, concern on her face. "I think he might be hurt," she said.

Rosalie smiled slightly and set the bandages down on the bed. "No, he's not," she agreed, hoping that the decision meant that Ella wouldn't be trying to run about the apartment anymore. She brought some warm water in from the bathroom and set it on a nearby bookshelf. "Get your dress off of the wounds while I check on him," she instructed, getting back up and going to the door.

Daniel seemed to be checking his wounds as Rosalie approached him. "Ca va?" He didn't look terribly hurt, but the fur made it difficult to tell. Moving past him to the kitchen, she got water for him too so that she could help him clean off, or at least help to clean up the scratches that she knew were there.

The badges of battle were indeed relatively shallow, but Vlad had ten fingers and as many claws, and he had not been happy at being pounced on, and made his opinion known. They hurt, but it wasn't so bad, and with the kind of intent care that most animals took with their injuries, he had his chin tucked in and he was eying the wounds as best he could manage considering the angle. He gave them a few experimental licks, and that felt much better, so he stuck with that tactic until he was interrupted by Rosalie, who got another sharp twist of his attention when she reappeared. Again, the tension went through him, and again, he almost immediately relaxed soon after. Being in this form was a lot like living entirely on instinct. Most of the conscious thought came after everything else. He didn't realize she'd even addressed him in a language he vaguely knew until she'd already left again, and by the time she returned, he'd nearly forgotten all over again. He kept stopping what he was doing to look down the hall, every small noise Ella made seemed to capture his full attention. If he had a cat's tail, it would have twitched, but he didn't, so his ears did.

The dress she was wearing was ruined at the shoulders, and she couldn't slip it off without replacing it with something. She grabbed a pair of sweatpants and t-shirt from a pile in the corner, both faded and worn, and she ducked into the bathroom. She washed the blood off her shoulders as best she could, knowing Sleeping Beauty was busy with the Beast, and she slipped on the sweatpants and shirt and left the dress folded neatly on the counter.

She peeked out of the bathroom carefully, leaning forward until she could see the living room, see the Beast, then she went back to the bed and climbed onto it and waited for Rosalie to return. The shirt was loose enough that it gaped at the shoulders, and the sweatpants were even looser, longer, but the clothes all smelled warm, and clean and a little musky.

She smiled, even as she stretched to look into the living room again.

Rosalie had found a cloth in the kitchen, but she went back into the master bedroom before she tried that on Daniel, unsure of how long it might take. Ella had found some of Daniel's clothes somewhere, and her shoulders were clean and no longer bleeding. Folding up some of the gauze into pads, she set them on the worst of the injuries, pressing down lightly. "Can you just- keep those there?" she asked, at somewhat at a loss. Rosalie wasn't a nurse and she didn't know exactly what needed to happen with the cuts except that they shouldn't be bleeding or dirty. Satisfied that Ella wouldn't try to disturb the gauze, she hurried back into the other room to Daniel.

"Hold still," she ordered him as she drew closer, dipping the cloth in the water she had brought him. Then, she brought it up to his shoulders, where she could see that blood had matted the fur. He hadn't spoken in quite a while, but she didn't like just being there silent with the Beast and Ella and their injuries, so she continued to talk. "Do you think Vlad will go back to normal? And you will, won't you? And Boyd?" She didn't know what she would do if all of her friends were stuck as characters who seemed to have difficulty remembering who she was. "Speaking of the whole fable thing, you don't happen to know what fairy tale Ella belongs in, do you?" Daniel was well read, he might come up with something that her and Ella hadn't.

He didn't seem to quite comprehend what Rosalie's intent was, and he stared at her for a little while as she bustled past with warm water and then returned. He looked past her to stare down the hallway again, but when the water touched the raw scratches, he recoiled with more speed than any creature that large had a right to have. He snorted and showed her his teeth. That hurt. "Get away," he said, rather thickly, head down to protect his chest from further meddling medical intentions. Speech was not a natural thing for him, but he managed it. "You're making me want to bite you, and I don't want to bite you, so stop that." He narrowed his eyes and blinked a few times at her, ears slowly swiveling back forward. "Talk shorter. It is hard to listen." As if to demonstrate, he looked past her down the hallway again, then back.

The movement and snorting made Ella come to her feet, and she went as far as the bedroom door initially, where she peered down the hallway in concern. Gauze was forgotten, Rosalie's instructions ignored and blood from her shoulders began to stain the shirt she was wearing. It stung, but she was so focused on what was happening in the living room that she barely noticed the discomfort.

"Be careful," she called to Rosalie, stepping just out of the perceived safety of the bedroom. "He's probably like a wounded animal, which means he'll lash out if something hurts him, even if he doesn't mean to," she said, adding very, very softly, a little uncertain about actually talking to the Beast. "She doesn't mean to hurt you."

Rosalie's hands went to her hips as she glared at the both of them. Uncooperative patients. "You, sit," she directed Ella, pointing to the couch. "You're bleeding, you realize?" Stalking back to the bathroom, she found more bandages and a tube of antibiotic ointment. Apprehending Ella on her way back out, she tugged the other woman's elbow, guiding her into the living room and hoping that knowing what was going on would help her to keep still.

"And you're bleeding too," she turned back to Daniel sternly, but made a conscious effort to pause and let that statement absorb. "Tu compris? I don't know what you want me to do then." Another pause. "You can't just leave it like that." If they were going to get all silly and caught up in their fairy tales, they should at least have to listen to her.

The blue eyes were faintly silver in the yellow light as they tracked Ella's appearance, unblinking. It looked like he was going to be very silly and caught up in his fairy tale, thanks very much. Maybe being furry had something to do with that. He stood up onto all fours to move from the outer edge of the room to the center of it. The coffee table had been knocked aside in his struggle earlier and he now had the room to sit back on his haunches and stare fixedly at Ella and sneeze several times and the smell of blood and roses and the conflicting addition of himself. Or some version of himself.

"I am fine," he said distractedly, to one or both. The blood was already drying, and the scratches only stung every once and awhile, and otherwise they just itched. The mess and the fur made it look worse than it was. "It's safe here," he added, ears swiveling again. He sounded absolutely sure. "Nothing comes in. You can stay." He was pleased by this, it was clear. Lord of the jungle, and all.

She wasn't so sure about the living room. The hallway, and its narrowness, made her perceive it as safety. This was all wide open, and maybe Rosalie wasn't at all frightened by a furry creature that was six times her size, but Ella was. Especially because something in her mind told her that the furry creature wanted to keep her here. Still, mixed with all of that there was something akin to fondness. She wondered when she stopped making sense, and she risked another furtive glance at the Beast. Maybe it was something the vampire did, she thought, touching one of her shoulders as she sat on the edge of the couch closest to the hall. It hurt, and she winced.

She looked at Rosalie, her gaze intelligent and clear, voice kind-warm. "I know I'm bleeding," she said. "It just seemed the least significant concern right now," she said, giving the Beast a look out of the corner of her eye. "His name is Beast," she said, going back to a question she asked Rosalie earlier. "What is yours?"

"I can't stay that long," she told Daniel, eying his wounds again in a way that made it clear that she did not want to just let them be. "You're nearly out of coffee." Rosalie knew because she hadn't bothered to get Daniel any more after he left. Not missing Ella's wince, she hurried over with her new batch of supplies and started tending the injuries properly this time.

"It's not the least significant concern to me," she commented, able to think of a whole list of things that were less important than the woman bleeding from a vampire attack in front of her. Ella's question didn't bemuse her any less the second time, and she dabbed the woman's shoulder with the antibiotic ointment as she considered what she might mean by it. "Sleeping Beauty?" was her eventual guess, followed by a realization that in her present state, Ella might actually know her fable. "Why, what's yours?"

He was edging closer as the discussion continued, nose first, until he was within arm's reach and both ears were pressed all the way forward to inspect both of them. The words were becoming noise again; he was starting to realize that if he wasn't concentrating very specifically on hearing or speaking, everything tended to be just noise. The subject of coffee wasn't interesting to him at all, and neither were the introductions. He was pleased that Beauty was being properly cared for, since he had absolutely no idea how to do it. Most of his attention centered on her welfare, and that did not seem strange. Now that they were all here where they belonged, there was no reason to worry. "You stay," he repeated, firmly. Satisfied, he sat back on his haunches again and pulled one massive paw back to lick his wounds again.

Ella frowned at Rosalie. Sleeping Beauty wasn't actually her name. Maybe her name was Rosalie, here and there, because somewhere in her mind she knew that there was a there. "That isn't your name," she finally said, then she frowned. She knew Rosalie's tale, and she assumed it was because Rosalie was from the same place as she. A princess from a castle, where she was only a merchant's daughter. Still, something didn't make sense. "Why aren't you frightened of the witch's curse?" she asked the other woman. Witch's curses were, as indicated by Ella's expression, very serious.

Throughout this entire exchange, she kept glancing at the Beast, who was inching ever closer. "Father says I don't have to stay," she told him, with a tiny tilt of her chin, before skittering her gaze away and back to Rosalie, wincing at the care to her shoulders. "But if it means he's safe and you'll help him, I will."

Rosalie could see from Ella's expression that her guess had not been the correct answer to whatever the other woman wanted. "Well, no," she admitted, "My name's Rosalie. And it is Rosalie," she added for good measure, since Ella had already protested it once. There was an obvious difference in the way she was acting compared to how the others all seemed to be half-soaked in their fairy tales, but she had no idea why it was.

"I already got rid of all the needles," she explained to Ella, biting on her lip at the thought of it. "I don't need them to fall asleep anyway."

Daniel said stay; Ella said she didn't have to; and Rosalie hoped that she would, at least so she didn't end up back outside with the vampire. The part about Ella's father got to her though, and her hands paused where they were laying bandages onto the other woman's shoulders. "Ella...can you tell me more about what your father said?" True, they already had a Beauty, but fathers and yellow dresses and rose petals were all saying right now that they could have been wrong about that one.

He pulled his head up at Ella's defiance and gave her a withering regal stare. "You stay," he repeated. It was not an option. "I don't care who your father is." And he didn't, because he couldn't exactly recall who--but it didn't matter. She stayed. The other one stayed too. It wasn't as urgent, but it still seemed a good idea to keep the soft and squishy types where it was safe: here. Women were always getting it into their heads to run haring off into danger, and now look.

Something about what the other one said about needles made the beast frown. It was an odd thing to see. His ears went to one side and he shut his mouth to squeeze his eyes in contemplation. "If there's a witch, you should stay," he stated, helpfully.

She made a sound that was very much humph, and she looked right back at him. "I'll stay, if you agree to keep your word. Otherwise, I'm leaving." Injuries, obviously, didn't play a role in that decision, nor did vampires.

She looked at Rosalie, and her use of the unfamiliar name - Ella - made her shake her head. It wasn't right. It wasn't precisely wrong, but enough hours had passed that she was mostly Beauty, and Ella wasn't correct. She touched a hand to her own chest and said Belle, but she didn't linger on it. Ella was close; it was probably list a mistake. "But I prefer Beauty." Yes, English. She preferred English.

"My father," she told her, very intentionally not looking at the Beast while she said it, "had made an arrangement with the Beast, you see," she said, twirling the ring on her hand, a sigh escaping her lips. It wasn't very fair that the Princess be stuck here too just because she had tried to be kind to her.

"She can be safe from the witch in her own castle," she finally said, this time to the Beast.

Rosalie smiled now. Ella was Beauty! Not a witch at all. She finished wrapping the bandages on Ella's shoulder a little smugly. "Daniel made an arrangement with your father?" To Rosalie, there was no distinction between Daniel and the Beast, or Ella and Beauty, or even Boyd and Red, not in the same way she had already tried to separate Vlad from Dracula in her mind.

"I don't have a castle," she told them, "and I really don't think there's a witch either. But if you two are alright and you promise not to go messing those up," she waved a hand at Ella's bandages, "then I should probably go." Get coffee, definitely. And then figure out what to do about sleeping.

On the issue of locational safety, the Beast stared balefully at Beauty for a moment, then finally huffed into his fur and conceded, "Maybe." Fortunately he did not hear Rosalie disavow her own castle, since he had gone back to nosing at the scratches on his chest. He pondered the question of Beauty's father while he did so, but it never resolved itself. He didn't quite remember... but then, it didn't sound totally unlikely, either. Sort of familiar. Maybe he had made such a promise, and just forgotten when the intruders came.

He stood up when Rosalie moved, but he allowed her to skirt the edge of the room and slip out the door on her quest for coffee. He clearly neither liked nor approved of the proceedings, however. He stared at the door a while longer after she left, then coiled back around to where he'd been before. Apparently blissfully ignorant of any such thing as awkward silence, he licked the scratches he could reach, then lay down in the middle of the room, inches from the couch.

She was surprised the Beast had allowed the other woman to go. She didn't call her Rosalie, because that just didn't feel right, and it was sad that she might not know who she was. "Be mindful of the spindles," she whispered before the door closed, stuck between wanting to warn her again and not wanting to call the Beast's attention to the fact that the other woman was escaping the castle.

Once the door closed, she looked at the Beast, and she considered running to the hall, where it was tight and safe. In fact, she scooted closer to the edge of the sofa, but she didn't actually get up.

"Does it help?" she asked, keeping the question intentionally short and pointing to the wound as he was licking it, making it clear with the motion that she was asking if the licking helped. She still looked frightened, but it was mixed with a touch of curiosity.

Well, maybe more than a touch.

He stared at her with the blue silver eyes, especially if she moved, every twitch a magnet for his immediate attention, like a cat about to pounce. He stared at her moving finger for a moment until it stilled then back at her face. It took him another moment to figure out that she had spoken, then he had to replay the noises and remember what their meaning was.

He tucked his chin down against his chest. The scratches were so shallow that they were largely hidden under the fur, at least where he could reach it. The rest of the long lines were obvious because of the dried blood that matted the fur where it went into his mane and down between his forelegs. "Yes. It doesn't hurt as much."

She was getting a little more accustomed the blue-silver stare, though it was still a little unnerving. It wasn't every day that you met a Beast, and definitely not one as big as he was. She stilled her movements, because she could tell those drew his attention, and she watched him tuck his chin down against his chest.

In the back of her mind somewhere, she wondered if his injuries would be more serious once this all passed. Then she tipped her head, and she frowned. How could they be sure it would pass?

She edged just a tiny bit closer to the edge of the couch, knowing the movement would draw his eye, and she touched her fingers to her lips before she said anything, since she'd noticed him watching her hand earlier. "Do you want me to help with the injuries?"

He stared at her hand, then her mouth, then blinked a little more to pull himself out of the hypnotic movement of one against the other. It wasn't sexual, just... hypnotic. "Help?" he repeated, twice, once to hear it, to understand it, and then again to communicate his further confusion. He looked down at his chest again, squeezed his eyes into catlike slits, then put his furred chin down on his forepaws. "You should fix yours first. They must still hurt."

She noticed how difficult a time he had concentrating on her words, so when she moved, it was with a motion of her hand that said stay here and wait instead of with talking.

The castle, no, it was an apartment - the apartment seemed vaguely familiar, and she had no trouble finding the kitchen. (maybe she'd been in it before?) That made her pause in the kitchen doorway, and she glanced back at furtively to see what he was doing, before walking into the kitchen proper.

She put her hands on her hips, and she looked around in full view of the door. After a minute, she filled a bowl with warm water and she grabbed a roll of paper. While she did this, she set a pot of water to boil, and she hummed softly as she waited for it. Once she had everything, she peered out to see where he was, to make sure she wasn't going to be ambushed, before leaving the safety of the kitchen.
