Vodka. Enough Said.
Who: Ed and KiKi
When: After this
Where: Starting out at 1107
What: Vodka for starters...
Warnings: See "what" above and speculate. Will update as needed.

The inside of 1107 hadn't changed noticeably. At least the changes wouldn't be noticeable to anyone who wasn't paying close attention. Little masculine touches had begun to pop up--a cigar box (that held cuff links, gold-plated fountain pens, and silver-plated lighters, but no cigars), a chess set on a newly arrived side table, old leather bound books piled haphazardly around, coasters and ashtrays scattered about to make drink placement and responsible ashing easy. It was a much more welcoming space all in all.

And Ed was preparing to welcome his date for the evening with all the casual charm of the man he was used to being. There were no candles, no flowers, nothing that spoke of trite seduction scenes or romantic interludes. The quiet absence of any expectation rendered the entire space unreadable--and all the more playfully obvious at the same time.

He had no idea what to expect from the delightfully intoxicated woman with whom he had a date for the evening. But the bar was stocked with several different kinds of top-end vodka (including some of the flavored varieties that Ed had never tried himself but was loathe to reject out of hand) and the ingredients for at least 5 different kinds of martinis.

Ed seemed endlessly patient as he stood sipping a simple vodka martini as he waited for his date to arrive. Only the half-smile on his face gave away his anticipation.

He chuckled happily when she reacted to his nearness. She was playful and bold, which made him want to tease and provoke all kinds of happy responses out of her.

He knew they were being watched even more closely now and he figured it would be a shame to waste this moment of attention. He winked at her then as she leaned back from the delicious kiss she gave him. "Well, I hope you mean that...because my version of underhanded is pretty bad. For example..." he reached up and trailed a finger along her cheek, down over her chin, and then down further--the barest touch along the soft skin of her throat until he reached her designer neckline.

"For example, I think you need something exquisitely expensive to wear around your neck. Something so fabulous that you'd want to wear it out as often as you could. That way, whenever you were getting dressed to go out with another man--you'd be reminded of me and of all the pleasures I can give you." Despite the fact that his fingers hovered intimately on warm skin, his eyes were on her face--gleaming with mischief and promise.

She loved his answer: it was underhanded and selfish, decadent and inappropriate, bold and sexy. Kiki rewarded him for his gambit, slipping both arms around his neck and leaning close, nearly purring with happiness. "You assume you can give me pleasure," she teased, voice husky, and she looked at him through her lashes, letting the truly ribald meaning of her words come through.

The waiter had returned to the table with two dishes--one lobster and one squab--and was stopped in his tracks by the display at their table. Ed ignored the young man (who was doing an admirable job of being unsurprised) and kept his grey-blue gaze focused on the now dangerously close Katherine.

He heard every nuance in her teasing answer and Ed had no problem matching her husky, pleased tone with one of his own. He didn't whisper, or wink, or play it all low-key. "It's not just an assumption, Katherine--it's a guarantee."

A delicious shiver of happiness crawled down Kiki's spine. She didn't seek out older men as a rule, but being with Ed reminded her of why it was so dangerously fun to be with them. Ryan never taunted her like this; Ryan never dared to be so politely vulgar.

"I'm holding you to that," she whispered, and she leaned in for another kiss, this one slow and long and very obscene.

"I'm counting on it..." he said against her mouth when they finally released each other from the kiss KiKi initiated. The waiter was still standing there and now all heads were turned toward them. Not just because they were kissing but because they were holding up the discretely elegant dance that was "service" at Jean George.

When he reluctantly waived a hand at the waiter to indicate that the plates could be deposited without the usual niceties, Ed kept his eyes on KiKi. He was smiling happily as he ran a finger along her neckline--not trespassing beyond fabric, just easing the border created by fabric along her skin. "So, I believe you said you like diamonds?"

"I love diamonds." Another exaggeratedly demure blink, then she cuddled close to Ed, nuzzling his neck. The plates momentarily interested her -- if only so she could later brag about what they were served -- and then she turned her attention back to Ed. "Emeralds, too. Sapphires, of course -- they match my eyes -- but never pearls." Her expression sharpened, suddenly all business. "None of your grandmother's jewelry."

He wrapped one arm loosely around her shoulders and managed to fork a bite of lobster tartine securely enough to hold it out for her to taste.

"Darling, my grandmother had some pearls that would have looked fabulous on you," he said over an appraising look while waiting for her to take the bite he offered. "But if you prefer not to have pearls I'll keep that in mind. Now, tell me all your thoughts on settings--gold to go with your skin tone? Or platinum to make other women weak with jealousy?"

She cupped his hand with hers, guiding the fork to her mouth, and she made a happy noise as she chewed. "Both," she said, frowning at Ed as if disappointed that he hadn't assumed that. Then she immediately smiled, cheered -- as always -- at the prospect of gifts. "Let's not discount the value of clothes and accessories," she pointed out, giggling, and she stretched on arm to stab a bite of the lobster, offering it Ed.

He took his bite and enjoyed the familiar, always excellent dish. "Both? In the same piece of jewelry? You know some people have strong opinions about mixing tones... However, I've seen some lovely pieces that do just that," he commented as if there were nothing odd about discussing jewelry preferences with a woman on a first date.

He forked a piece of the squab for her this time and turned his attention to the topic of clothes. "Clothes might require us to shop together...at least once. If 'm left to my own devices I might lean too much toward lingerie," he winked at her.

"Each," she corrected, playfully punching him on the chest. "Don't be fresh," but she smiled up at him, clearly meaning the opposite. Taking the bite delicately, she considered his comment and grinned. "Oh, dear, now we couldn't have that." She tangled her fingers in his hair again, possessive. "Then I might have to model it for you, and that wouldn't be something you'd like, would it?"

"Each. Right," he nodded and then he arranged his face in a properly chastened look that was only partly belied by the sparkle in his eyes. But before he could apology she was ruffling his hair again and he couldn't help but grin at her despite his effort to look serious.

"Well, since you won't permit me to be fresh I can't really tell you my thoughts on you modeling lingerie." He managed to untangle his hands from the tight confines their cuddle-hair-tug arrangement and refilled their champagne glasses. He handed her one and raised the other in a toast, "To future shopping trips!"

She toasted him but waited until he took a sip of the champagne, then bent her head for a kiss. "Many shopping trips," she declared imperiously, kissing Ed again. She told herself she was doing this as part of her seduction of him, but it didn't hurt that he kissed so capably and so well.

When she finally extracted herself from the second kiss, she gave him a breathless smile and leaned back, feigning coolness. "Have you ever been married?" She tipped her head to watch him. "Will I have to watch out for crazy exes of yours coming after me?"

Ed had always enjoyed women who were comfortable initiating things like kisses--but young women were often too timid and older women were often too aloof. Apparently he had finally found a playfully perfect compromise in KiKi. He realized that he was relaxed, not worrying about the dull ache in his left hand.

His smile was warm and open as he watched her lean back. "We'll shop for clothes together. But I reserve the right to pick out the jewelry..." he said sternly as if he were driving a hard bargain. He was already thinking about pearls--since she claimed not to like them. He decided she needed pearls before she got any diamonds. Still lot in that thought he almost missed her questions. "Hmmm? Oh, married? Nope. Not even close. However, that doesn't mean I don't have crazy exes..." he grinned and winked. "But if they come after you it will only be to warn you that I'm a cad. They'll be pleased to know that you have me firmly in hand!"
