I'm pretty sure that was Helena Kelly. I've talked with her at a few charity things before, and I knew she lived in the building. She was outside with ~~I'm going to go out on a limb and say it was Dracula~~ another man and Shere Khan was awake and pacing the entire time. ~~In between mauling people who came by.~~

But I don't know, I could be wrong. Now, can I ask you a question?

Yeah, I've met her briefly but we haven't spent extensive amounts of time together. I haven't gotten a chance to talk to her, no. I'm not sure who he was. Dracula, maybe? He didn't look like he was having a good time. Granted, I was mostly focused on you so I wasn't having a stellar time either.

Inspector Burnt Haggis. Why did he run a background check on me? Am I dating him too?

Because the building isn't the only thing to be wary of here. Two months ago, there were two [...] incidents. A girl was taken down into the basement and tortured, and a boy was also tortured and left in a trunk in said basement. One of the torturers left the building even though we all know who she was, and apparently nothing can be done. The other was never caught, I don't think. A boy was also killed around that time, and a girl raped.

One of my friends ran a background check on one of my other friends just because we spent a full moon eating pizza and watching bad movies together. It's silly, I know, but [...] Luther just wanted to make sure your favorite hobbies weren't something along the lines of "walks on the beach, growing roses in the back garden, and chopping young women up to grind into hamburger."

So I figured. Don't worry about it. It's done and I know you worry about everything but please just don't worry about this. I'm sure Dracula - even if it was him, I don't know! - has his own problems right now.

So that gives him the right to decide that I maybe like to cut up women? Because I was trying to help you and the others? That's not helping, Joanie. I don't have anything to hide and I would have told you anything you wanted to know. It is not helping to have your few-cheerios-short-of-a-full-breakfast creeper BFF spend time running background checks on men you consciously make the decision to date, rather than spend time dealing with rapists, torturers, people who commit acts of homicide because their eggs were runny at breakfast, or other generally vile dregs of society. Torturers run free but Joanie's boyfriend, the SCUM, will pay for sending her flowers! WTF??!
