Summary: The annual Christmas party at the Ministry of Magic.
The conference room had been magically decorated to fit the season, as well as magically enlarged to fit the entire staff and their guests. In the ceiling, the image of a snowfall had been created, and along both the eastern and western walls were large Christmas trees, glittering from the conjured coloured balls hanging from their branches and the lights from the fairies fluttering as they moved from branch to branch.
The room was lit with candles, floating right below the ceiling. Along the shorter northern wall were tables filled with Christmas food and treats. Another table was filled with beverages, butter beer, mulled wine, hot cider, wine, lager, ale… Close by were a few tables for those who wanted to sit, though most of the space in the room was open for people to move about and mingle.
Diggory inspected the room carefully, pleased with the work the house elves and staff had made. He himself would not stay long, as he preferred the comforts of home to a Christmas celebration. In truth, very few Christmas celebrations had been held since Cedric died, though Amos preferred not to think of that and instead focused on work. He'd hold a welcome speech; wish the staff a merry Christmas and a wonderful night. Then he'd eat a bit to seem polite, shake a few hands and excuse himself as soon as possible. He was sure the staff and their guests would enjoy themselves immensely, as the party was as well prepared as any held in the building before.
Nodding his approval, he signalled for the doors to open and the waited for the crowd to arrive.
