I have been watching movies to master this culture's idioms. It's only two thirds as tedious as I'd expected.

Are all Earthers hopeless at combative tactics or is it a media conceit?

Depends on the person. A majority of people don't know how to properly defend themselves.

According the premise of each given film, these are expert warriors.

Several of the "Star Wars", several of the "Star Trek", some of the "Superhero" type… until I got to the third I anticipated the notions of their own planet would be more accurate than those of others.

Nebula. Have you watched the films known as First Blood or Predator? They are both tales of revenge and hunting, worthy of consideration.

Quill's knowledge of action films is considerable even if outdated. The phones are much more unweildy than they are in the present.

The master database shows me these films are older than current speech patterns. But I will queue them.

Action films have a lower speech to visual ratio but I thought to establish a baseline of credibility with what I know. I have. I think any films depicting other areas of Earther behavior should likewise be disbelieved. This is an escapist society.

I do not appreciate too much talking. It is a distraction from battle.

It is as you say, and Terrans are seeking relief from their mundane lives of tiny phones and delicious cheese snacks. That is what I find most amusing. They truly know how to tell a tale here. Even if it is a stupid tale of manly men with many muscles, using weak weapons such as their guns.

Yes, I suppose security cannot appreciate itself. Or else shows itself a lie.

This is true. I find their tiny guns amusing.

Midgardians have their own concept of battle and valour.

There are also many different types of media that are not representations of warfare. I personally enjoy the 'pixar' movies.

I had ruled those out as patently nonrealistic. Perhaps I should reconsider. What is it that appeals to you in them, Midgardian?

I am Asgardian. My people call those of this realm 'Midgardian'.

I enjoy the simplicity of them.

I see. Apologies.

Tell me one?

There is one that is a tale of toys. These toys are sentient, and come alive once Midgardians are out of the room. The moral of the story is that toys have the same feelings and strife as those who play with them.

It is a philosophical study about who is truly the plaything vs the master.

I have watched it many times.

Pretty much useless. I was like 8, and no one taught me how to fight.

Had to learn from space pirates, since y'know, they would've killed me if I hadn't learned.

Hey, Violet Beauregarde. You need to watch Enter the Dragon.

Bruce Lee. Mirror room. Stupid blocky claw hand. Classic.

I judged against connecting my consciousness directly to Earth's internet, but you tempt me, Stark.

[pause for googling]

I am not spherical.

The master database shows me that film, like those Drax recommended, is older than current idiom, but I will queue it nonetheless. Since certain of you [Quill] also use references older than current idiom.

It is frustrating being bound to a single civilization like this.

Color fits. Hooking up to the net wouldn't be a bad idea either. Maybe I can help wifi that into you, after I'm done processing the whole I've-made-a-mini-me thing.

Earthlings watch old movies all the time. It doesn't matter if it's current or not. They're considered classics. Quill and I use references because he was a kid in the 80's and I was in high school and college in the 80's. That stuff sticks with you.
