Here's something interesting. Scientists have found one of the densest nuetron stars ever discovered. Over twice the mass of the sun but only 15 miles in diameter. That's close to being too heavy to exist. Much more mass and the density would collapse the structure even further into a black hole.

[Private to Thor]

My mom invited us for Rosh Hashana. I said we needed a break after the wedding. We're now expected for Yom Kippur.

I apologize my love, but I am unaware of what these holidays are. Thankfully, I will have time to research and ensure I do not embarrass you.

How is Helen doing?

The time between Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur are the High Holy Days. It's all about atonement so we can go onto the new year free from sin and with a clean slate. The Book of Life where your fate for the year is recorded is closed at the end of the holy days so you focus on repenting and good deeds so you can have a good year.

Rosh Hashanah is New Year. It's about forgiveness but less serious? Mostly it's about wishing for a sweet new year. Yom Kippur is the holiest day of the year and is about repenting for the previous year's sins. Because of it's importance, it's observed by a day of fasting, obstaining from work, and from wearing leather, and from having sex.

Mom is doing fine. She's had to bump up her glasses prescription and she may need a knee replacement soon but she's well. She says hello and wants to know if you would like her to buy you a ticket to temple to go with us. I have a feeling she suggested Rosh Hashana first thing I would say no so she could get us there on Yom Kippur instead.

No leather. No working. No eating. No sex. I do not understand how any of this leads to a productive, and happy New Year.

If anything, the day before a new year should be filled with merriment and debauchery. Your God is a solemn one and I respect that.

Is kissing allowed? How about gentle caresses? I feel I need more information.

Midgardians can replace their body parts? Why are there issues then with aging? And she dose not need to purchase anything for me. Send your mother money, Jane. She should want for nothing.

While your eagerness to ask questions is very Jewish, you're more likely to talk me into something that winds up carrying over my sins into a whole new year. Yom Kippur isn't until the first week in October so if you want to try and find some creative ways for me to son this year, you have a little bit of time left before atonement.

We know how to replace hips and knees with artificial versions when they go bad. We can also replace certain organs with ones harvested from donors after their death.

Yes thank you, I have it handled. Mostly she needs to know if you want to go to temple or wait for us to get back.

I see nothing wrong with tempting you, my love. Speaking of temptations, our home here -- you have yet to tell me where you would like your lab built, or the specifics. Should I send Korg over to discuss plans?

....and you harvest from the dead? ....I will speak to Eir about this. What a strange practice.

As I am invited, I will attend, unless you feel I am too much of a distraction for your event.

Where is there room? Attached to your house? Or someplace else? For convenience if I work at night it's nice not to have far to walk. It would also be nice to have some sort of skylight or open space in the ceiling so I can see the stars. With room beneath for a decent telescope.

The people give their permission before they die.

I'm thinking about asking Darcy to come for Yom Kippur as well. I hardly see her anymore and there are worse reasons than my mom's brisket.

It is not my house, it is our house....unless you wish for another residence? I could build a new one if you'd prefer, to your exact specifications. Otherwise, I was thinking to have it a little back from the main residence would be ideal for privacy.

If you wish a skylight, then you shall have one. Your desires are mine to fulfill.

It would be good to see Darcy again. I too have not spent time with her as of late. We should rectify this.

I guess I'm still used to thinking about the place in New Mexico as my house and the place in Norway as your house. I need to get better about that. And we need to get better about being in the same place at the same time.

Yeah I think it would be good. I mean she still can make me crazy sometimes but I miss her.

We are in the same place now.

Do you wish to join in the festivities? The mead is limitless.

Yes yes I'm coming down. If I don't I imagine you'll just be up to fetch me.

As per your earlier request, I am not yelling up the stairs, and I am texting instead in quiet and relative peace.

Please note that I do learn.

...but I will fetch you, you are correct. And then I'll be distracted because you're beautiful and ravishing and I wish to always be with you.

I love you.

Science constantly amazes me. I wonder if stars like that are more prone to becoming a black hole.

Neutron stars don't tend to collapse into black holes. Although they are incredibly dense, they don't have the mass required to collapse into black holes. While there is likely an upper limit to the mass a neutron star can acquire before it's forced to collapse into a black hole, the stars are incredibly stable and we haven't found it yet. This large helps us approach that limit.

This is fascinating. I may have to do some additional reading on this myself.
