Guests are greeted by a trail of rose petals to lead them to the rooftop. With the sun setting, the view across the harbor would be magnificent, and a perfect backdrop to an elegantly displayed table. There are various platters of charcuterie, wine bottles dotting the side tables, and an open bar at the back. Side tables are placed in comforting nooks, and there is ample seating for all.

Smells of various meats cooking on the barbeque waft through the air, and the host himself will be manning one of them. Contrary to popular belief, Thor can cook. After all, a warrior who cannot feed himself quickly becomes thin.

Welcome to all. Thor hopes you all enjoy your evening, and if things become messy, please -- seek your host. He will happily find you a space to relax and wind down if required. The last thing he wants is hurt feelings.

"Might I suggest the poultry," a soft voice said from nearby, and that voice was familiar to the both of them. One from a lifetime of listening to a pesky younger brother's sarcasm, and the other from being mind-jacked by an Infinity Stone. There was a teasing tone to that voice all of a sudden, "Thor likes roast chicken. Don't you, brother?"

Loki was dressed well, as Loki often was. Although he was taking up Thor's offer to remain by his side, he was actually only there in spirit. Even so, he had the sensibility to remain at a distance of about five feet away and appear as non-threatening as possible, with both hands clasped together at waist level and left in plain sight.

"Hello," he said mildly to Clint, with a wary expression and a slight nod of his head. It was an acknowledgment with nothing more said as of yet, which left the typical fight or flight response in the archer's court.

It made sense for Clint to know that Earth mammals had five alternate reactions: fight, flee, friend, flop, or freeze.

Clint froze.

But damn he wanted to fight. Only his promise to Thor kept him from immediately lashing out, and that probably aided by Thor's physical presence.

He tried to think of a verbal response that wasn't terrible. I'll be sure not to try it, then. Yeah, no.

Instead, his eyes flickered around the space to find his allies. Nat, Cap, Bobbi…

	"Loki, you came!" Thor was happy to see his brother and went to clasp him on the back. Only the ever so slight head shake got Thor to pause. This was a double. Of course. Thor couldn't fault him though for it. "I wasn't sure after I saw Darcy on her own. And Barton, I agree. Chicken is one of my mother's specialties." (Replies frozen) (Parent) (Thread)

His brother's joy voice was like listening to a Bilgesnipe rampaging through an Alfheim glass shoppe. Loud and somehow pleasing for all it's abruptness.

"I did," Loki said, lobbing a sheepish look at Thor. "Lady Darcy can be most convincing with a phone."

Loki looked warily at Clint again, before his gaze afixed on the fare. A potential source of small talk.

"Truly, mother outdid herself. As did you," Loki said before his voice dropped down to a hushed tone. Although his head was held high, Loki was standing a little too straight, his shoulders a little too tense. "I am reluctantly impressed. Your cooking has improved."

	Clint abruptly shook his head. "I'm sorry," he said, genuinely to Thor and less genuinely to Loki. "Are we standing here doing niceties? Okay. Loki's jaw clenched at the mention of dragging their mother into this - a woman who was already well aware of his faults and wrong doings - and he said nothing in response to Clint.

Thor, however, got a staring at like this should have been expected and it was a stupid, fruitless, futile attempt at anything.

"This," he murmured so Thor could hear, "was? A mistake."

	This is exactly what Thor was hoping to avoid. "Gentlemen," he said as calmingly as he could. "Please. There are others here. I suggest this not escalate further lest we disturb them. Clint ignored Thor. Which was quite a feat when you consider… Thor.

"I think you do!" barked Clint to Loki. "If you even knew. Did you know? You didn't make puppets, out of Selvig 'n' me. Oh no. You needed our skillsets, our ingenuity, our initiative… you basically needed us, not just your brain in our bodies. Or maybe you just wanted friends. I don't know. So you hijacked our feelings, our motives. But left the rest alone. Everything I did, everything I'd never have chosen to do if not for you, did feel like my own choice. I figured out how to do your bidding like I wanted to. How fucking violating is that. Not to know what's real. Being made to doubt who you even are. You climbed inside me but still made it my own fault. Do you have the slightest idea what the hell that's like?"

Loki's face shifted from outrage to anger, to shame and finally into tired resignation as he watched Clint during his tirade. He was looking away by the end of it. His fists were clenched tight at his sides as he gave one slight nod of his head. It wasn't quite clear what he was nodding at, and he didn't give anyone the opportunity to ask. Or accuse.

He looked to Thor for only a second and made a strategic retreat, evaporating in a shimmer of green light.

	Thor sighed heavily. That went worse than he'd hoped, but at least no one was harmed. Of course, now he'd have to soothe his brother's hurt feelings, but that could wait. "Come, Barton. 	After being led to the rose garden, Clint went into full spycraft mode to follow Thor right back out of it, hoping Thor would lead him to Loki. No dice, Frodo; Thor goes into his scene with Jane. Barton has his panic attack and winds up back in the rose garden with Nat. (Replies frozen) (Parent)
