Guests are greeted by a trail of rose petals to lead them to the rooftop. With the sun setting, the view across the harbor would be magnificent, and a perfect backdrop to an elegantly displayed table. There are various platters of charcuterie, wine bottles dotting the side tables, and an open bar at the back. Side tables are placed in comforting nooks, and there is ample seating for all.

Smells of various meats cooking on the barbeque waft through the air, and the host himself will be manning one of them. Contrary to popular belief, Thor can cook. After all, a warrior who cannot feed himself quickly becomes thin.

Welcome to all. Thor hopes you all enjoy your evening, and if things become messy, please -- seek your host. He will happily find you a space to relax and wind down if required. The last thing he wants is hurt feelings.

Darcy had never been to an Asgardian party. She'd no real idea what to wear, so she bought a green dress. One that would match Loki perfectly, she wanted everything perfect. But it wasn't. Loki wasn't going to the party. No matter how many times she pleaded with him. After giving up, she went home and dressed. It took her about two hours to get dressed, and thirty minutes to get to home.

That green dressed hugged at her frame. As promised she had arrived with Jane at the party. She glanced over towards Jane with a smile though. They needed this, everyone did. Especially a certain God, who didn't attend. Around her wrist would look to be a lovely black with green shimmer bracelet, but in truth, it was Nagini. The snake Loki had given her.

It didn't take her long to spot Thor as she made her way over and gave the large God a tight hug. "Thor, this is amazing." She said smiling brightly. Smile Darcy, don't let them know Is all she thought. Slowly, others started arriving, and it has become more and more clear, that everyone was arriving with some sort of pair on their arm. A heavy sigh escaped her lips, but she kept that smile on her features none the less.

It was probably obvious to everyone but Thor had kept an eye on the door all night, waiting for Jane to arrive. That she arrived with Darcy was some what of a relief. This jealousy feeling was unbecoming but he couldn't help himself.

Thor was slightly surprised by the hug. It wasn't often that he received one, so he happily returned the embrace. "My thanks, Darcy. It has been a long time since I hosted an event such as this, and I thought it best to spare no cost." Looking around, he gave her an exasperated look. "I see my brother has yet to make an appearance...I suppose that means you were unsuccessful in your argument. I too tried to convince him."

When Thor returned the hug she yelped slightly but laughed none the less. Once she was back on her feet she glanced about once more. But when he mentioned Loki not coming she thought for a moment. "He said he'd think about showing up.... It's the best we can hope for..." She said with a smile she was used to wearing.

"But come n, this is a night to have fun. Drink, laugh and be merry, right?" She said as she smiled brightly. Holding her wrist out."Lookie!" She said holding her wrist up to reveal that very real snake on her wrist*

Jane had raised her eyebrows at Darcy's dress but hadn't said anything. The only thing Jane owned as fancy as that was her Asgardian dress and it was safely preserved behind glass. If Jane was dressed up at all, it was that her skinny jeans were of a darker wash and were free from random marker stains, grease, or the remains of lunch. She'd paired them with a purple and black flannel and black combat boots. The boots were inexpensive, comfortable, and soled in a solid non-conducting rubber.

Jane looked over at Darcy, the other half of her mismatched pair. "Hey. You good?"

Darcy didn't dress up. In truth she did it to match Loki, who wasn't even here. And it was too late to take the dress back. In truth Darcy loved what Jane was wearing, it was normal and easy. Something she was wearing next time for sure.

Darcy came to smile at Jane. "Admit it, I'm overdressed she said laughing softly.

There were a lot of reasons for Steve to go to Thor's party. Keeping an eye on Loki was one of them (he didn't know the Trickster wasn't going to be there). Spending time with his friends was another. He hadn't actually had a chance to do much of that yet, so this was the perfect opportunity.

Little did he know exactly how much drama he would be walking into.

Thor was equal parts happy and distressed at seeing Steve. Rationally, he fully understood that he had no need to be concerned, that Jane's affections were her own, and all he desired was her happiness.

Irrationally, he couldn't help but asses Steve and determine that in a true combat, Thor was easily the victor.

"Rogers," he called out. "It is good to see you, my friend." He gave him a searching look. "I thought Bucky Barnes would be with you."

Thor would be the victor only because Steve wouldn't fight him. He would defend himself, but that was it. He didn't like being opposite friends in his recent history, but he hadn't picked that fight, either.

Steve smiled when Thor greeted him. "Hey, Thor. Nice place." Mention of Buck made his smile dwindle a little. "I don't think he's ready for a group gathering just yet."

There were quite a few reasons why Tony Stark wanted to go to this party.

First and foremost? He knew how much drama he'd be walking into. That was why he dressed pretty. He even went matchy matchy with Pepper, so they were both wearing red, although his was really just accompanying red shirt under his blazer. The RT in his chest was obvious. He didn't even bother hiding it under a shirt anymore.

The other reason was that no one - in the history of anything, anywhere - threw parties like Asgard parties. The last one set an adjacent apartment on fire. He was subjected to geriatric porn. You can't unsee that. Its why Asgard-on-Earth parties were burned into his memory.

Of course, there was also the possibility of seeing Cap again. Which? Party. Social environment. Nothing wrong with having a run in with your former teammate turned frenemy, turned (kinda) enemy, turned maybe possibly friend again. And with that in mind, Tony sauntered over to where Cap was.

"Hey Cap," he said as he drew closer, with a pause that was almost awkward. "Good to see you."

Oh man, now this was a party. Peter may not really like that Thor dude (and everyone kept calling him a God which had to be a lie, right?) but free food was free food.

Even better if there was free booze.

It hadn't been too hard to convince Gamora to come, and he couldn't have been happier when she agreed to dance with him. In public. Where people could see her with him. Amazing.

At some point though they separated, and Peter wandered over to the rooftop to stare out into the water, a beer in one hand. Frick, this rich life could get addicting.

Bobbi checked in with Clint from time to time, but when she saw him slip away with Romanoff she let that responsibility go. Both agents had worked very closely together, and even though Barton was married with children, his profile suggested that if ever that changed, good money should be placed on him hooking up with his red headed partner. If Bobbi read their body language properly that was about to happen, and neither of them needed a blonde shadow.

So she wandered around, prepared to shoo the curious away from the rose garden if necessary. Eventually, she found herself on the rooftop and spotted Tony Stark's new personal assistant. Bobbi smirked, put on her spy steps before walking toward him. Why yes, she had learned how to be absolutely silent while wearing black stiletto heels.

"Peter Quill." Bobbi let her voice break the peace of the night air. "Born in Missouri 1980. At the age of eight years old was abducted from Earth the Ravager Clan under the rule of Yondu...after his mother died from brain cancer. Eventually went out on his own which directly led to his involvement with our current, universe ending situation." Bobbi smirked. "Affectionately known as Star Lord."

"Friend Quill," Drax said as he approached, and patted a hand on Peter's back so hard that it could only be described as 'manly.' There was a beer in Drax's other hand, taking the place of a knife or a snack food packet. Really, it was interchangeable. A Drax action figure came with those accessories. "The Pirate Angel has offered a bountiful wealth of funny drinks and meats roasted over a pit. He is not only a man, but he is a man who can cook."

Drax entertained thoughts of being friends with the man who was the offspring of a Space Pirate and Space Angel. They would eat roasted meats, and talk of battle while watching the contest with balls made out of feet.

"You should learn how to cook," Drax said. Because he liked eating, and he didn't gain weight. He gained bulk.

Asgardians knew how to put on a spread. Every comfort had been considered. There plenty of food, warm lighting, cozy corners to sit. Jane had gone for a different sort of comfort and headed for the bar. It was well-provisioned and there - not front and center but easily to hand with the whiskey - were bitters, oranges, and one of those peeler things. None of it was out of place on a well-stocked bar but Jane knew better. Thor remembered. She set about the business of fixing an old-fashioned.

Thor watched from a distance as he watched Jane make her drink. Familiar moves. He was glad she was a creature of habit. More than anyone there, he wished she would have a good time.

Coming up behind her, he smiled. "It was good of you to come, Jane. Thank you."

Nat had glanced around as others were making themselves known. Nat had been at the party for a while now. As usual, she kept to a corner and just watched the others. It'd been a long while since everyone was together for a party. The last time was right before the Ultron incident. And even that felt like a different lifetime ago.

She had a drink in hand already as she came to take a sup from time to time, her hair back to red. She didn't dress fancy in a skirt this time, but rather black leather pants and a white tank top like shirt that came to her hips.

Again, another sip of her drink was taken as she looked around for her other half.

This merry gathering was Thor's idea, but Frigga had thrown her weight behind it. As punishment for making plans for their abode without her or Loki's consent, Frigga had hastily put together a menu of items for their guests to nibble from. Some of the items had to have ingredients substituted since certain spices couldn't be found on Midgard. It was the end result that mattered, and Frigga was an accomplished chef.

Dressed as regally as ever, the former Queen of Asgard watched their guests arrive and mingle. She smiled and spoke to any that she could, but as hostess it was her duty to ensure those that attended had a nice time.

In all his years working with SHIELD, Nick had never had the opportunity to formally meet the Queen Mother. The stories about her were legendary, and he'd always secretly hoped he would.

Seeing her in person was more than he had expected.

Hoping he wasn't breaching some regal protocol, he aproached the Queen with a formal bow. "Your majesty," he said. "Thank you for inviting us to your home. I'm Nick Fury, director of SHIELD. I recruited your son for the Avengers. He is an honourable and well-respected warrior. You should be proud."

Of everything she did tonight, nothing made her quite so nervous as talking to Thor's mom. Jane hadn't spoken to the All Mother since her unexpected return from death so her last memories of the queen was Malekeith killing her in defense of Jane's own life. As the lady of the house and a host, it would be rude not to offer her greetings.

Jane waited for what was hopefully a good moment to approach and left her drink behind. "Lady Frigga, good evening."

Tony was enjoying the party, and it was much more like a regular party thrown by a Norse God in an alternate dimension should be. Drinks, food, former teammates from a now-defunct superhero mashup that weren't trying threatening ass kickings or to kill each other yet. Nothing was on fire and no one was being thrown out of anything. Good times!

"This isn't awkward," Tony commented to Pepper. "Like, at all. But I did have the world's best BBQ. Who knew that Thor was a pit master. I'm gonna need pro tips. Since you know, I'm almost pro."

The last time Tony tried BBQing, he used a gauntlet and left a smoldering hole the size of overkill in the middle of a brisket.

"Oh you're a pro all right." Pepper gave Tony a bland look but there was that fondness in her eyes that only he got. "A pro at what though is the question."

As planned, Pepper was dressed up in a little red dress and matching stiletto heels. Naturally, this made her tower over her fiance. Tony never seemed to mind.

"Almost everyone is here," she commented. "Except that Doctor Strange guy. Wonder where he is."

This was not a thing that Scott did. He didn't do parties, unless they were for his baby girl--who wasn't so much of a baby anymore. But being in an adult party with a bunch of Avengers and powerful folks...Scott felt out of place.

Despite his discomfort, he couldn't say no to Thor, who despite his size and strength was very...sweet? And he wanted to have an existing positive relationship with the other Avengers. Or not Avengers. People saving the Earth from bad things.

Some people he knew, some he didn't, and he wasn't about to make a jackass of himself so he wouldn't approach anyone first. He knew food. And it looked amazing, so Lang took to trying a bit of everything.

Thor was thrilled to see Scott Lang, controller of ants. One of the reasons he wanted to throw this get together (other than to get his mind off of Jane things) was to get to know some of the other arrivals.

They were all in the unique position of having been chosen for something bigger than just one person. Thor knew how that felt.

"Scott Lang!" Thor's booming voice could cut across a stadium if he wanted. With a firm slap on Scott's back, Thor beamed. "Welcome to my home. I am most pleased to see you, and even more pleased that you are enjoying the delicacies of my realm. Eat everything, please."
