Who: Open Thread
What: House Warming Party
When/Where: March 1st in New Asgard

On the surface, it all looks like a perfect day for the party. Thor has ensured great weather, meaning even the backyard is set up with chairs, food and drinks -- and being an Asgardian party, there is no shortage of food or drinks. Actually, maybe be careful which ale you take. Some are for our ..hardier friends.

Someone has taken over the sound system, not sure who, but Spotify is playing some oldies, and if Peter was there, he'd greatly approve.

The hosts are mingling and walking around, smiling and pretending things are great. If you squint though, you might notice that they have somehow become experts at ignoring each other and not being in the same space.

For those that have cleared it before hand, there are bedrooms upstairs that you can use to sleep in. Otherwise, the hosts kindly ask that you remain downstairs.

The familiarity and ease with which Sif joked made Thor doubly annoyed at Jane's earlier statements. He was going to brush that all aside, and simply have fun speaking to his best friend.

"Yes, well," Thor responded at the notion of having guards around. "I will speak with Jane; however, do remember, old friend -- she is not ...used to this type of lifestyle. Whatever duties that we put into place must be done so with the utmost discretion and minimal impact on her life. It was surprisingly easy to convince her to move here. The rest of Asgardian life though..." He trailed off. Although Sif and Jane had not interacted much, he could safely assume that Sif had picked up the reluctance in Jane to be involved in court life.

"But you are correct -- now is not the time to speak of it. How have you been? Have you explored this fair country?"

"We'll find a way to make it work." There would be ceremonial occasions that Jane might not want to attend at all, and there would be honor guards. Even so, Sif was aware that Midgardians of rank had security guards. Perhaps that would be a useful analogy.

"And yes, I've done a little exploring here, and also spent some time exploring New York with the Avengers. I have been introduced to the Migdardian custom of dim sum. It's very tasty but a little messy. Also the food is very different. They prepare and eat the feet of chickens, and many of the offerings are quite spicy. Here in New Asgard, I've tried to do a little horse riding to get a better grasp on the landward approaches so I can improve our security from that direction. If you'd like to ride with me, we can arrange for that. With the guards, or with Val, if that seems suitable."

She had to remember to add that at the last moment, both because of the guards and because Jane had been confused and upset before, and with the guards, a strict propriety could be maintained.

"I miss Fandral and Volstagg and Hogun. And Heimdall. I wish they were all here with us."
