Welcome to Thor and Jane's!
Who: Open Thread
What: House Warming Party
When/Where: March 1st in New Asgard

On the surface, it all looks like a perfect day for the party. Thor has ensured great weather, meaning even the backyard is set up with chairs, food and drinks -- and being an Asgardian party, there is no shortage of food or drinks. Actually, maybe be careful which ale you take. Some are for our ..hardier friends.

Someone has taken over the sound system, not sure who, but Spotify is playing some oldies, and if Peter was there, he'd greatly approve.

The hosts are mingling and walking around, smiling and pretending things are great. If you squint though, you might notice that they have somehow become experts at ignoring each other and not being in the same space.

For those that have cleared it before hand, there are bedrooms upstairs that you can use to sleep in. Otherwise, the hosts kindly ask that you remain downstairs.

Enjoy!!!

Loki stared at Sif like she knew that was a blatant diversion, from mastering the fine art of diversions in conversation. She let out a sigh since it was likely Thor wouldn't divulge something tumultuous to Sif immediately, anyway.

"It progresses well and is a little over a fortnight away from completion," she said with a confident nod. "I have but a few parts left to mend and assemble. Surely that task is easier than training warriors in mud. Which might happen again soon for all we know, hm?"

She raised her eyebrows a little while taking a small sip of wine.

"If they are to fight alongside the God of Thunder, they needs must learn to fight in the rain," Sif agreed philosophically. "The Midgardians have a saying, a quote from one of their bards, I believe: into every life a little rain must fall. Into our lives, more than most."

She continued with a smile, "Is there aught I can do to aid you in your work? Anything I can gather? I will be most pleased to use your creation when it is finished. It will be a great help to be able to go back and forth to Avengers Tower more easily."

Loki's nose wrinkled up. They could keep the rain and mud. It was also in recognition of the fact that they'd had more rain than most. If she spent too long thinking that over, she would become locked up in her own thoughts yet again. This was neither the time nor place.

"Well, there is the doorway in Jane and Thor's spare room?" Loki pointed out, looking at a nearby staircase. Of course, she didn't trust using it if it was made by Midgard's sorcerer apprentice. It was likely to close mid-route if she dared use it, herself. "Which does nothing to afford most of the villagers a quick means of escape, all at once."

She tapped a fingertip against her chin, considering.

"Gold." It had a wide array of uses thanks to its density and conductivity without tarnishing, and they all knew Midgardian currency was useless on other realms for trade purposes. Hence the stockpile of gold, jewels, and relics that Loki put in an underground treasury vault. "We have most of the power sources, thanks to your dragon slaying. But I can't pillage the treasury for this project. I had to use spells to dig up even a few flecks on this planet. And yet, the smallest pieces I could salvage of the old...machinery...were very badly damaged and require mending with sorcery. We need gold so I can finish the rest of the gear assembly. There's really only one collective of planets I can think of, that has gold in abundance."

She looked both ways before saying under her breath, "The Sovereign."

"If you need my arm, it's at your service, saving only the King's order to the contrary," Sif told him.

She expected him to say he wanted his wife with him, though.

It seemed a good way involve Valkyrie and Sif together, didn't it? Even if the Valkyrie might need convincing, Loki smiled as though delighted, musing that this could go incredibly wrong. With enough illusions cast over them, they might be able to pull this off without leaving many fires and much screaming in their wake.

"I will mention it to the Valkyrie," Loki said, since why not have two fierce warriors tackle thousands of...well, the Sovereign fought with drones, come to think of it. That might make for a bloodless battle, fires or no. Still, she looked at Sif with a mischievous smirk and a fond gleam in her eyes. "I appreciate you willingness to aid in such an endeavor."

"I would be proud, and pleased, to fight by your lady wife's side. You are welcome, Loki." She could not say as always though it had come to be the norm here in New Asgard.

Sif rather liked this new Loki. It was always possible that he would change--it was his nature--but he was treating Thor well now. And she liked that.

Truth be told? Even now, Loki would probably stab Thor, and Thor would likely punch Loki (either before the stabbing or after). But that was their typical sibling rivalry and nothing venomous like before the thrashing from the Hulk. And despite having a quick temper, Loki would forfeit life itself without a second thought, to save Thor from any real harm. That would always remain unchanged.

Unfortunately, things could change abruptly and without warning. It took only dredging up a hurtful topic from ages ago or some imagined slight for that to happen. It was the realization that could happen, which helped keep things a little more in check. And for all the chaos caused, Loki did not always enjoy being an instrument of change. Devoting one's self to commerce and the arts would have suited the God(dess) of Mischief just fine. It took a clever mind and a silver tongue to arrange and manage such things anyway.

"I do think the both of you would get along famously," Loki replied, smiling and nodding in approval as though it was a pleasing thought that the two should be friends. "I should go tell Thor of this bold plan. Tis a pleasure to speak with you once again, Lady Sif. Good eve."
