Welcome to Thor and Jane's!
Who: Open Thread
What: House Warming Party
When/Where: March 1st in New Asgard

On the surface, it all looks like a perfect day for the party. Thor has ensured great weather, meaning even the backyard is set up with chairs, food and drinks -- and being an Asgardian party, there is no shortage of food or drinks. Actually, maybe be careful which ale you take. Some are for our ..hardier friends.

Someone has taken over the sound system, not sure who, but Spotify is playing some oldies, and if Peter was there, he'd greatly approve.

The hosts are mingling and walking around, smiling and pretending things are great. If you squint though, you might notice that they have somehow become experts at ignoring each other and not being in the same space.

For those that have cleared it before hand, there are bedrooms upstairs that you can use to sleep in. Otherwise, the hosts kindly ask that you remain downstairs.

Enjoy!!!

"It was, in fact, on the news," Loki said, hesitating before she bestowed a dazzling smile and made up a name on the fly. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Carol. I'm Trixie."

Which wasn't a lie. It was not only a viable name, but also a descriptive title.

"It's a small village, so there is the benefit of not being inundated by too many people. You likely know Thor, and being an ally to him will endear you to many." Loki tilted her head, still not able to put a finger on what she felt being near Carol. Power, definitely, and insatiable curiosity prompted her to ask, "Where are you from? If you don't mind my asking."

"Ooh right, the news. Yeah I was trying to avoid that," she said with a shrug. "Nice to meet you too, Trixie. I guess you know Thor then?" she asked, looking around at everyone else that was around.

She had no reason to think this wasn't someone else, so Carol just shoved the shrimp finally into her mouth and chewed it quickly.

"That's true. It's nice that way. Yup, I do know Thor. I mean barely. I'm mostly here because I'm on the roster, not in a friend way." Her friends were pretty few and far between. "Me? Oh I'm uh.. technically from Boston. And then y'know.. outer space. I mean it was sort of my home? But not really. It's complicated."

Loki wasn't sure why anyone wouldn't revel in the attention, which was due in part to having not been the center of attention for a very long time. Conversely, it did seem like that might be a bit of an annoyance and make it harder to maneuver about. She shrugged back at Carol and nodded, "You could say that I'm an acquaintance of his. And if you are on the roster as a fellow warrior, then Thor would count you as a friend."

Loki plucked up one of the bite sized desserts for herself, and her eyebrows went up a little when Carol mentioned being from outer space.

"Outer space? Oh, I'm all ears," she replied, hesitating as she asked further questions, as though unsure if she should ask it. "What...planet...did you live on? It's not often..." Don't say mortals. Don't say Midgardians. "...that humans are afforded the opportunity to live on another world, entirely."

As she ate the dessert she was chewing slowly, and staring at Carol with innocent wide eyes.

Her view of the public and attention was a double-edged sword and often she didn't know how to take it because she wasn't used to it. That sort of thing didn't happen on Hala. She knew that things happened like that on Earth, but it still took some getting used to. "Ah well, then I guess I'm a friend." She shrugged a little.

"Oh uh, I was on Hala. The Kree. Not by choice. I .. didn't know who I was after an explosion and they kind of just.. took me. It's a long story. But anyway, the powers that I have allow me to be able to go into space without needing much of anything.. I left Hala after I realized they took me and I came back to Earth and figured out my life before hand."

Loki blinked a few times, in stunned silence. The Kree were definitely dangerous and Hala was a place best avoided, unless one wished to pick one Hel of a fight and start a lengthy war. That the Kree saw fit to take any human there must have been from a significant amount of power they wanted to use for themselves, which made Loki even more curious.

"...that must have been an experience," she said, in what was assuredly a huge understatement. "May I ask what caused the explosion, or gifted you powers enough that you were taken back to the Kree Empire? Which, I am sorry for. The Kree are genuinely horrible and incredibly tedious to deal with."

Loki rolled her eyes and took a long, long, loooooong sip of wine. The length of that 'sip' might make it known just how much of a headache the Kree usually caused everyone they came in contact with.

"Oh uh, it turned out that my mentor was a Kree who was turning against her own people using some kind of light engine to hide some Skrulls. The Kree found us though. We crashed, and I blew up the light engine." She shrugged a little, not sure why the girl wanted to know but it wasn't exactly a secret. "Turns out that the thing that made the light engine was one of the infinity stones."

Surely everyone knew about them, if she was here among everyone she had to know. "Thanks though. Yeah. They are. Always on the lookout." To make sure they weren't up to things.

Loki was staring at Carol while trying not to look shocked. She managed to turn that into an expression of keen interest, which was easy enough since she was interested in what Carol was saying. If it was a light engine, there was only one that could be used as an energy source. The one that was currently tucked away in her dimensional pocket. The one that Dr. Strange believed was locked in there, and that the key was Thor's verbal permission to use it.

"That sounds incredibly jarring and terrible, Carol. I'm so sorry. If I encounter or hear word of any Kree nearby, I will let you know immediately." To confirm her theory, she had to ask an innocent enough question, "Do you happen to know which stone it was that did this to you?"
