Her fingers tapped around her empty coffee cup and she leaned a little into him. She liked how his voice got low as well.

It was also nice to hear him laugh a bit. "Is this you telling me I'm allowed in your presence tonight? I'll drag out my old organic chem textbooks and I can be wrong all night long, baby." With a wink, Christine straightened up a bit and brushed her hair back from her face. "I'm guessing you'll still be here then if I disappear and socialize for a bit? The coffee has finally kicked in, and I see some little flags I should steal. Be patriotic or something."

Almost laughing. Almost. As he leaned into her for a moment and his arm slowly dropped from her shoulders.

"I'll still be here," he told her, "and yes, you should bring the text books. Even if I remember everything in them." He gave her a look like she was 12 years old sometimes. "Don't steal flags while people are looking. I doubt it's a criminal offense anyway, since they'll be picked up tomorrow and recycled."

By recycled, he imagined they'd be donated to a Vets cemetery to be placed on the graves, no doubt.

Of course he remembered everything, she knew about his photographic memory. Thankfully, Christine was immune from his arrogance and she just brushed it aside. If she had it her way, they wouldn't even open the books. Nudging him with her hip, she rolled her eyes. "It's a saying. They're giving them out for free over with pins and other random swag, but if I get arrested, good to know you'd maybe bail me out." Maybe being the key word.

Stepping away from him, she gave a little wave as she walked backwards. "Text me before the light show starts. I'll come find you." And if she didn't, he'd find her. That she could count on.
