Who: Scott Lang and Peter Quill
What: Quill's new superhero name is Land-Lord
When: Over the weapons plot weekend, maybe?
Rating/Warnings: Green

Scott liked to consider himself a decent cook: two years under house arrest had given him plenty of time to expand his culinary repertoire beyond frozen chicken nuggets and stovetop macaroni and cheese. He took a lot of pride in being able to feed a ten year old something healthy and delicious (although he suspected that Cassie was being extremely generous with those “yum”s and “so good”s, at least at first), and eventually in being able to make a meal his family could sit down and eat together. Which was great when his family was.. well, together. Not so much when he was home alone. He had much less pride in being able to feed himself.

But that was what Postmates was for, right?

That was what he’d thought he was opening the door for when someone had knocked. The guy on the other side looked familiar - definitely not in a I’ve delivered burgers to you before way, though. “Oh. Hey?” Still, wouldn’t hurt to check. “You’re not delivering me food right now, are you?”

Peter snorted. "I like that! I could use that skill on my resume." If he even had one, which was debatable. "I too used to steal shit and sell it to people. Sometimes the same people. I guess I was negotiating acquisitions and mergers during that time. Who knew?"

He took a drink of his beer and nodded approvingly.

"Yeah, it's good to be back on Terra, learning all this crap, but at the same time, frick, I miss space. I don't get out there enough. I mean, I could, my ship's fixed and all, and I can pilot it myself....I had a smaller one, but Rocket, Groot and Mantis took it out and they're patrolling space. Drax and me, we decided to stay behind ...so in another round about way, we could probably move here but we like our big place. I've never lived in such a big place. I have like four closets."

“Nothing wrong with wanting room to spread out,” Scott mused, tucking into his burger. A glob of ketchup dribbled out the other end, but he was quick to mop it up with a few fries. “And I bet they’ll want a familiar place to stay when they visit. Or if another version of them comes along--who knows with this universe, right?” The last few weeks had seemed pretty stable, but the casual way Peter had rattled off the different versions of people that had worked for Tony had reminded him just how unstable it could be.

He took a long, pensive pull on his beer. “Anything stopping you from taking a joyride? Or did you mean getting out there like.. back into the pirate game?”

"I go out." And Peter did. He enjoyed his downtime in his ship, checking out the galaxy. What he didn't really do anymore was go into deep space...and he wasn't sure why.

It'd been so long since he was by himself, with no crew, nothing that he was a little wary of doing it. And sure, he could probably invite people from Earth but would they really understand what it was like?

"But not to pirate," he added quickly. "I dunno, since being a Guardian, I've had like a change He quirked his lips. "I'm more into the whole 'help people if they can pay' side of grey.instead of the 'screw everyone over' side of black."

He finished his beer and looked at Scott. "Anytime you wanna go up, let me know. I like to go and sit by the Moon. Sometimes, I try to fuck with the rovers but that's boring now that the one on Mars stopped working."

Scott certainly wouldn’t understand what it was like, although his time in the quantum realm might make him more qualified than most. “Yeah, I hear you. Family changes you, man.” At least, he assumed Peter considered his crew family - it seemed strange that they’d all choose to squeeze into a two bedroom apartment otherwise. “I went straight after my kid was born. Mostly.” The whole Vistacorp business had been more a Bad Choice for a Good Reason, Scott’s trademark.

The offer to go to space, casual as it was, had Scott’s eyebrows shooting into his hairline. He nearly choked on the sip of beer he’d been taking, though he managed to recover with only a little bit of dribbling. “Oh, yeah, okay. Cool.” He wiped at his mouth with the back of his hand. It probably shouldn’t have been so exciting a prospect, considering all he’d been through, but space. The final frontier. He could just chill out by the moon, no big deal. “Yeah. The moon. That’d be cool. Thanks.”

He’d probably owe Quill another beer after that.
