Hey all, Jaclyn here. I realized I forgot to intro myself and my characters so lemme fix that!
Katsuro Barton @ nightonmyside first up the adopted son of Clint and Jess, brother to the most awesome Cal. Kat is much like his brother but less ‘dude. Hyperactive, goofy and a total softie. He’s the kind of guy that’s always looking for ways to make someone smile and laugh. He is just as likely to be found running around and carrying on outside as he is to be found indoors practicing the violin, piano or even painting. Jokes about finger painting are more than welcome since Kat jokes he does that too. Kat is a Sentry and also works for SHIELD. While it’s not common knowledge what happened, it may have gotten around that he was on a mission that went south. What happened was that Kat’s friend and fellow agent Jane Mendez, a budding telepath, was killed on a mission. They had bonded in a way that when one ended up hurt, the other felt it. As she was mortally wounded, he felt her death as his own. The experience was naturally quite traumatizing and for a while there he was a completely different person, being a recluse and just not wanting to do anything. At times he might have even attacks other people. It’s been a long road to recovery, and he’ll never exactly be the same guy, but he’s back to his baseline more or less. It should be noted that Kat always has to wear sunglasses, as his eyes are highly sensitive to light. It’s great for night vision… not so great for day vision. If he’s come back from a mission where he’s had to use his powers quite a bit, it’s entirely likely he’ll be fully covered in a light layer of clothing even on the hottest summer day, as if he doesn’t, his skin will burn very, very quickly.
Logan Lopez @ trustmygut Son of Wolverine and Echo (Maya Lopez). Logan was brought up on his mother’s reservation, and kept away from the community until his mother’s death. At that point, he was brought to the Academy and was more or less raised by the community. Logan was more than a bit behind in his education but when it came to more “practical” things, he excelled. It was a huge adjustment for him when he first came to the Academy and he probably wasn’t too friendly at first. Logan tends to get very defensive when he’s not 100% comfortable. When he was bullied by other students in his grade, he ended up actually attacking them at one point and beating them until separated by the staff. Mostly, this was one of those ‘punch the biggest kid in the yard’ kind of deals so he would be left alone. Between spars (which he’s always looking for sparing partners!!) and extra tutoring, he was able to catch up to the rest of his class to a point where he could graduate only two years behind the rest. After that he did a lot of traveling and team up with other people. Unfortunately, he was taken by Weapon Plus and brainwashed. For quite some time in the recent past, he would ‘travel’ while actually being on a mission for Weapon Plus. His memories were altered so he had no idea. It probably would have gone on longer if he hadn’t gotten into a spar with dear old dad and popped his bone claws… which were now covered in adamantium. Naturally, it ended up with more fighting and Logan put away for a little while until they could sort things out. Logan escaped, several times, and during one of these times he used explosives and civilians got caught in the crossfire. They were able to fix the brainwashing and for a while people though that he was mute because of a psionic side effect…however, it was due to the fact that Logan was remembering much of what he had done and people he had killed. Most recently, he ended up battling his father’s dear old friend Romulus. Romulus tapped in to the lingering effects of the brainwashing, and between the beat down and reverting a bit to his more feral side, he knew he needed a break. He’s currently on leave from the Sentries and working as the groundskeeper as a way to kinda stay close to the community without having to be too involved. Don’t be surprised if your character sees him sleeping outside or whatever, as he has developed claustrophobia. He can manage it, if he needs to, but most days he’d just rather ignore the issue all together. He’s not mr. social but he’ll talk to just about anyone.
Sam Rogers @ take_a_stand Second son of Captain America and Captain Marvel! Sam inherited his mother’s powers with a bit of his dad’s but neither of their durability (inherently anyway. He can absorb energy to boost it temporarily… but he still isn’t anywhere near the levels of dear old mum and dad). So he grew up with a big chip on his shoulders as he figured he couldn’t be a superhero. He didn’t really care one way or another about the fame of being a superbaby. He stayed middle of the stream in school, since, he couldn’t really identify one way or another with any specific group… and during college he took a lot of classes besides his needed ones for his criminal justice degree. After that, he pretty much just took off. He more or less fell off the radar while he worked for international relief and rescue groups. He came back to visit here and there, but ultimately, he was just out there and very much enjoyed his anonymity. When he was home on a visit, Owen had his fateful run in with the Machinist... and Sam was so outraged, that he literally stole one of his brother’s suits and went to hunt him down. Thankfully, Sam never faced him down alone (since he would have died at this point). He ended up asking Marvel for help in pretending to be Justice, just until they took down the Machinist. It worked out well, until the Machinist attacked them at a public event. Needless to say, it all fell apart and the plan was exposed. He left the team when Marvel was forced from the Avengers. Rather than giving up on the whole hero thing, he sought out various trainers (and anyone is welcome to have trained him!), though the most influential of these was Jack Murdock. He worked in the vigilante underground and earned the name Liberty. He’s just arriving today actually, and is taking over as the Sentry leader while teaching a couple classes at ESU. Sam is going to be highly driven at this point, as he’s paranoid that its only a matter of time that the Machinist breaks out. He’ll want to get the team ready to face him, and any friends he might have made in jail, down. .
Miranda Stark @ betterthaniwas Daughter of Pepper Potts and Tony Stark. Miranda was, essentially, a combination of like Paris Hilton and Kim Kardashian until she was 22 years old. She is insanely famous for doing… a lot of pointless things. She has a perfume line, made a music vid, had a reality TV show, clothing line, etc. However, she ended up cleaning up her life (not long after ODing and having Owen and JD rescue her, this is NOT common knowledge and really known to the Stark/Rogers/Barnes/Rhodes kids) and deciding to try to help out her little brother. She ended up working her way up the health care ladder starting as an LPN and is now a leader in the surgical field. She’s best known for her cardiothoracic work, as that was what she started out as to help Luka. However, she’s also known for being quite the trauma and orthopedic surgeon as well. She works with SHIELD to take care of many of their agents, but also within the community. The woman is wicked smart when it comes to her chosen field, and when she’s on duty, she can be a force of nature. Outside of that, not so much. However, she’s definitely not the woman many people saw that would freak out when a cow licked her. She’s not a doormat, not a people pleaser any more. She is the medial director for New Avalon and does see a lot of the residents here for various treatments. She’s more than happy to help anyone at any time and is, essentially, on call all the time for New Avalon as well as SHIELD. She also works here and there at Stark Memorial.
Magni Thorson @ struckbythunder Son of Thor and Sif. Magni is of course a prince of Asgard, and has grown up traveling between realms. He’s quite the adventurer, though he’s probably best known for being part of the Avengers during Sam’s tenure as leader, and left after Marvel was forced from the team as well. He is in a relationship with Harlow, the daughter of Hela, who saved his life. He was on a mission to see what was going on in Hela’s domain as there was unrest with the dead… and it seemed as though another goddesses, the Inuit death goddess Sedna, was attacking the realm. He was tricked out of his powers and nearly killed, but Harlow rescued him. She returned the portion of powers she had received from him. He and his father then rallied many of their allies (feel free to toss your character in here!) to assault Hel and take down the rogue death goddesses. After this, there was more, misc adventures before he was called to join the Avengers after Owen was nearly killed. He has been at the school for some time. He teaches PE and he’s the ‘nice’ or ‘good cop’ to Pella’s bad cop. He’s a kind, joyful individual. If you need a good laugh, he’ll break out the “Shakespeare in the park” talk.
So that’s all of them! I’m on the lookout for lines and plot with all of them! I work on the weekends, and tend to have to head off by 9/930 EST Thursday-Sunday. However, I've got OOC contacts on most of my journals, I think, and I'm almost always reachable by email at aphelionguardian [@] gmail.com
