The following day, all of them had gone to the Warehouse and spent the morning getting everything that they could set up. They got the lasers set up so that they would trigger the sprinkler system if someone crossed the beam. Claudia also got a Rube Goldberg set up along with one of Roosevelt's hunting traps.
Jack also called Allison that afternoon about letting them have MARTHA. Despite not wanting to originally pull the drone out of mothballs, she had finally relented and shipped it to them, and once it arrived, Fred spent the morning reprogramming her so she would act as a sentry. Fred was very, very happy to have MARTHA there. She had always liked the drone and knew that if she had a crack at her, she could make her work correctly. Once she had fixed her, it was almost like having a mechanical dog around...that could fly.
After everything was set up in the Warehouse, it became what felt like a waiting game. All of them wished they could do something more, that they could actually go out on mission, but they all knew that it was better that they stayed put in the town. They kept themselves busy in the Warehouse, making sure all the artifacts were secure and inventoried.
One morning, Fred woke up early and slipped out of bed, heading downstairs to the kitchen where Leena was making breakfast after getting dressed.
"Morning," she said. "Anything I can help you with?"
Leena sighed as she looked at everything she had sitting out on the counter. "The milkman's late, and I need milk for the pancake batter."
"I can't go get some for you," Fred offered. "Well, I can get one of the others and go."
"Are you sure? I don't want to--."
She put her hand up. "It's fine. I actually need to pick up a couple of things anyway. Haven't had a chance recently, as you can imagine." She looked over when she heard someone else coming in to the kitchen. "Cait, do you want to go to the store with me?"
