Fred felt an intense need to scramble closer to her friend, but she was still somewhat foggy from whatever MacPherson had done to them. Instead, she moved over slowly, not taking her eyes from him as he moved to crouch in front of him. She wanted to kick him for what he said about Artie, but she didn't dare. Not when she didn't feel able to fight back.
"If you think you're going to turn us against Artie, you're wasting your time," she told him when he said that they were going to help him get into the Warehouse.
"Oh, I suspect you'll go kicking and screaming the entire way," he responded. "But you'll help me, one way or the other. Even if I have to kill one or both of you to do it."
When he moved right after saying this, Fred kicked out in reflex, pushing herself backwards, and grabbed for Cait. She wasn't going to let him hurt either of them.
Her move seemed to amuse MacPherson, who started laughing. "Oh, this is going to be fun. I've got myself a couple of fighters. Mrs. Frederic did always know how to pick them. Although look who I got stuck with."
"Even if you get in, you won't get far," Fred warned him.
