CODING

It's the library--it's a reasonable location for both doing actual work and eavesdropping, and Edith also has always found herself feeling more at home in a library than anywhere else. Staying in her common room would have meant it made her harder to find by those on the mission teams who weren't part of Horned Serpent (where, awkwardly, Edith likely would've genuinely been placed had she been a real student and where she was kind of making friends) and sitting outside didn't seem like the best place to go with lots of notes and textbooks.

She had two of them out and open in front of her: Magical Hieroglyphs and Logograms and Spellman's Syllabary. The third item was one of her own notebooks, and she was using a quill to make noted comparisons; copying a line from the syllabary and writing out another script underneath it.

The script was Enochian, and she had no reference text for it.

It was just the language she was naturally inclined toward using for personal notes, except this time it was simply comparing alphabets, and she was finding a lot of overlap in the Syllabary: things that would be absolutely useful for her work as a xenoarchaeologist on the Poseidon. (If only she'd known to ask Hermione Granger, who kept a copy of the book on her tablet!) Occasionally she muttered something to herself about how a thing was almost just like so-and-so, but not quite, and other such commentary: Edith was definitely a nerd girl who was whispering to her notes.

The kind of thing that at least might attract attention. It wasn't like she was trying, exactly, but she did also welcome company, even if none of her findings were all that useful for this mission. Sure, she'd found the symbol she'd seen the previous month--but Draco and Lydia had already todl her all about it, and so she'd found the others in turn due to knowing where to look.

(She'd already copied down all of the related symbols, and really hoped that this notebook made it back to the ship.)
