(untitled), Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core, Angeal/Sephiroth/Genesis
Author: [info]jlsigman
Rating: G
Word count: 209
Prompt: Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core, Angeal/Sephiroth/Genesis: autographs and action figures – When the children came up for autographs, it was really no surprise, but who authorized the action figures??

Genesis loved giving autographs, and sometimes could be accused of going out of his way to give them. He also loved dragging Angeal and Sephiroth into situations where they would undoubtedly be asked to sign whatever scraps of paper someone could thrust into their face. Angeal would eventually relax and join in, but Sephiroth exuded such an aura of “Don't touch me” that there was a six foot radius of empty space around him. Genesis finally had to grab a half-terrified girl and, with her friend's laughing approval, shove her in front of the wide-eyed and nearly as terrified general. There was an awkward silence as he signed her autograph booklet, but when he was done the girl managed to squeak out a “Thank you,” before fleeing. After that, the boldest children took turns daring each other, much to Genesis's amusement.

But as casual as he was about the autographs, even Genesis was momentarily shocked the first time someone showed him his own action figure. It was surprisingly realistic, with sword and book and as many jointed parts as the manufacturer could manage. He had no idea who would have authorized this, but he was going to find the distributor and order several for more recreational purposes...

I'm not sure who'd be more upset about Genesis' collection of action figures - Angeal and Sephiroth, or Shinra PR. Because of *course* he'd leave them in "appropriate" positions in his quarters, and of *course* they'd be in the background in any interviews he gave, or they'd be in his office, etc etc etc. He'd also chuck a massive tantrum should some enterprising PR rep even *suggest* their removal - particularly if they weren't being manufactured by an offshoot of Shinra...

I love how you describe Sephiroth as being almost as terrified of the autograph seekers as they are of him, because he *would* be the sort of person who'd get a bit phobic in crowds and in complicated situations where he didn't know the exact etiquette, so autograph signings would be just distilled hell for him. I've a feeling he'd cope better with the sort of orderly signing queue common at conventions and book signings - nice neat line, one person at a time, a desk between them and him.

Exactly. ;-)

Thank you. :-) That sequence was lifted straight from real life, back when my best friend at the time and I were huge wrestling fans. Seemed quite appropriate here as well. ;-)

Hmm... Sephiroth at a book signing? I can't imagine he'd want to commit his own autobiography to paper...

I doubt it'd ever get past Shinra's bunch, not to mention that people would likely think he was making half of it up, the poor sod. :/

Well, I was talking more about the structural aspects of a book signing (orderly queue, safety of a desk etc) which would appeal to his rather less than socially ept personality rather more than the unstructured crush of being surrounded by fans eager to get autographs (or rather, being surrounded at a distance of about six feet by fans trying to figure out whether or not he'll kill them instead of giving an autograph). I can't see him writing a book either. He's not the type who'd vent on paper. His method of venting is much more active... like, say, trying to destroy the planet.

That was fun. Good job! I can just so see poor Seph being terrified of kids.
