fuel (KH, Sephiroth/Leon, PG)
Title: Fuel
Author: [info]logistika_nyx
Rating/Warning: PG, sexual reference
Word count: 240
Prompt: Kingdom Hearts, Sephiroth/Leon: candles/wax - The library was never a safe haven.
A/N: another for the free-for-all. Haven't played KH for ages, orz for anything OOC.

.

They find succor in this place, but not sanctuary.

Leon ends a flame with his fingertips. He licks after, not before, to taste that death and shining burn. His attraction to this place is perverse. He never found what he wanted in a library, not even with his sister standing two shelves away.

Sephiroth did seek, and so the fearless man found fear. He hates this place, but his hatred is at least familiar.

The candles suggest a tryst, but they were swords, SeeD and SOLDIER, wielded by another's unseen hand. They strike at each other for familiarity, and not to comfort; nothingness catches between their lips. They devour the space that separates them. The candlelight inverts when seen through sight blurred by such fucking. The flame does not gift its glow to the room: it consumes the thick darkness instead.

Leon's languor after is alien to him. A fighter must move. He is the one that rips the page as he rises, his backwards-turned palm unwary on the face of a fallen book.

At the sound, Sephiroth's bowed head lifts.

Leon offers the crumpled page. Sephiroth feeds it to the flame. The paper flares incandescent in that greater darkness.

Leon offers the book.

So slowly that single flame devours everything. They watch hungrily, as though the ghosts of words could at last fill their hollowness; in their eyes the flame does not reflect.

The emptiness echoes, strangled with smoke from neither here nor now.

Well, yes, but it's more the horrific act of book burning that squicks me. Occupational hazard, I suppose. ;)
