New Ad Layouts

Previous Entry Add to Memories Tell a Friend Next Entry
I have updated the ad layouts to try to make the site easier on the eyes. This is work that I had completed some time ago but never rolled live. I decided that you guys deserved something out of me so since this wasn't going to take additional time I have rolled it out.

Right now what you will notice is that there are ads on your profile page and entry pages. If you have a paid account you will not see ads at all on the site while you are logged in.

Now for an extra bonus, if you are paid, nobody will see ads on your profile page or your entry pages. There will still be ads on other parts of the site as soon as I have time to write the code to add them in.

Sorry this took so long.

*edit*
We are aware that the large square ad on the right side of the profile messes with the layout. We are going to look into a way of fixing that as soon as possible.

*edit2*
I have moved the second ad on the profile page from a square ad on the right to a leaderboard below "Account type" This should resolve formatting issues some were seeing.
  • I have to ask, and with no offense intended...

If so many people are willing to speak up for Squeaky, essentially doing free PR for him, would it not be in his best interest to hire someone to handle that PR professionally so he doesn't need to be responding to these comments himself? This is something I've asked before, and I still believe it would be a good idea.

Remember--an employee need not be paid in dollars. Paid accounts could be given out, as could work experience. This could be someone's internship.
    • Oh, I definitely agree that it probably would be best for him to have a little help on his side (volunteer or paid, either one). The site had been manageable from his end but then the numbers boomed so much that the site problems are a little harder to handle than they may have had been just a few short months ago. I guess there could be outside reasons that none of us are aware of as to why he hasn't gotten anyone to help, so I can't really answer your question.

As for the free PR from people speaking up, I'd probably do it anyway whether or not he was personally answering comments himself or if he had people hired to do the same. At least in certain cases where (in my opinion) people are being unreasonable or repeating themselves over and over. Of course, that's just me. And no offense taken whatsoever. :)
      • Apologies--notification of this response never arrived. I found it by accident when responding to another user asking about my issues concerning the site. And, though I answered him/her, I also had to admit that I have left IJ due to these issues, and am now answering responses only to be polite. I will be backing up and deleting my accounts here over the next week or so, as time permits.

Besides that, I'm not sure what to say other than Squeaky is lucky to have so many loyal to the service. I wish I could have been one of them, but it wasn't to be. I wish IJ the best, but my time here is done.

PS: Ironically, I was forced to fill out a captcha to respond to this although I was logged in. Ah well.
