I know the site has had some issues lately. The main thing being that the site sometimes times out during peak times. I have identified what has happened, and to fix it, I am going to need to rebuild all of the webservers. This may take me a week or two to complete. I am going to continue doing what I can to keep things running (rebooting the servers every few days seems to keep it under control).

As far as the other issues, here is the list of known site issues. I will work on them as time permits.

* directory.bml hangs searching
* Comments still seem to be disappearing.
* Edit userpics page loading slowly for users with lots of userpics (Firefox is still slow but won't timeout and give an error as a temporary workaround)
* Adding friends via the admin console causes custom groups to get emptied
* Joining a closed membership asylum
* Timezones on update page not reflecting change in DST in United Stats
* align= and border= options in image tags being striped by the HTML cleaner
* lynx sitescheme warning
* blank preview page
* Sometimes not able to change custom colors
* stats/stats.txt not updating
* cannot log in with blackberry

Now as far as some of the criticism that has been posted here. I have simply not had the time to dedicate to the big issue of comment rot on the site. I know it is a huge problem, and I have done some tracing, and am getting close to pinpointing the problem, and once that is done, I am sure it will be something simple to fix.

Please don't feel that I have been ignoring these issues to work on other things like the sitescheme. The work on these has been done by our volunteers and takes only a few minutes of my time to implement them.

Also, do not feel that I have been ignoring all the comments, I have read them all but I just have not had the time recently to respond to comments. I will try to do better to make the time to do this.

    What is up with IJ today? I checked the Twitter feed, but nothing is mentioned there. There is definitely something going on, though, and it's not fun.

    500 Internal Server Errors keep happening all over the site. Sometimes pages won't even load and comments won't post. It's been going on for hours now and seems to be getting worse.

    Okay, you know what? Fine. Forget handling my Abuse ticket if it means you'll spend the time you would have used on that fixing the site. Please.

    There's nothing on Twitter about this but the site keeps timing out, I keep seeing both internal server errors and code on the sidebar, headers and page - that tugboat shit - and it keeps saying the site's unavailable but you're "working on it" and my my, it's just not nice to lie.

    is the site being worked on? because it won't let me do anything! i keep getting internal errors and things won't load and i keep getting a lot of code in pages and i can't upload userpics or anything like that. just thought you should know! i'm pretty sure i'm not the only person this is happening to either. :(

    Hi Squeaky,

    I have been supporting this site for some time now complete with many paid accounts. However, I am beyond tired of comment rot. It's a HUGE problem and I don't understand why fixing this issue is not a higher priority as it is absolutely unacceptable that half of my written content seems to just disappear into the ether.

    I certainly hope this issue will be taken care of soon.

      That problem is actually the highest priority of bugs to be fixed. It is rather complicated though and we have yet to pinpoint the cause so we have not yet been able to find a solution. But please keep in mind that it is our top priority.

    Another issue -- minor issue:

    Navigation strip on Friends Pages notates it as "Journal Page" and not Friends Page

    Hello,

    I don't know if something is happening to the site but I mod an RPG and I cannot get onto the main community, I keep receiving a message saying there's been an error and to contact you. I've tried clicking on entries from my friends list but it says error - no such entry.

    What's happening and how can I fix it?

    i can imagine this issue has already been brought to your attention and i'm unaware if you still check this post but, hopefully you do!

    somewhere between insanejournal's servers and t-mobiles servers for their tmail, ij notifications get lost and users cannot receive them if their account is set to a tmail email address. i know this isn't that large of a problem, because it's possible to change the email address but for users (like myself) who forget a password to an account they'd like to use, and cannot recover the password because the email is set to a tmail address it is a bit frustrating. is there any hope that this might be resolved? t-mail accounts used to work perfectly with insanejournal up until late august and rumor has it with people who also use t-mail, some times notifications come and go, but i repeatedly have requested my password be sent to me for a different account and still no luck. please help!
