For those of you that use GreatestJournal, we just want you to know that they are back up and accepting accounts again. We hope that you have enjoyed your stay here, and I want you to know that you are welcome to stay if that's what you wish.

If you are going to stay, I want to announce that we are still going to continue with the server upgrade as soon as the new server is ready to go. I am still waiting on my hosting company to hand the server over to me, then it's a few hours of work for me to get it ready to host IJ. We hope to be able to turn the new faster server online either tonight or tomorrow night.
  • I'm also moving my stuff over here.

    Unfortunately system is not telling the support and abuse team anything (I'm the cdenise on support/abuse threads in news and issues - I've been working on there since 2003). We cannot continue to function like this without updates from the owner. Many of us have taken major abuse from the users due to the fact system is not giving us updates and telling us when something is broken or will be removed.

    This last year has been brutal for us. We are a small team to begin with. Now this week we lost another member bringing it down to 2 members on abuse and 3 on support. 2 of us are on abuse AND support.

    We cannot answer tickets without any information from the site owner. This week made me realize, how did we do this for 4 years being in the dark with site bugs and items being added and removed?
    • comments like these make me even more certain that i want to move from gj to ij. the way system treats his support/abuse team is just ridiculous. i really would just like to thank you for keeping up the good work for as long as you did and enduring such harsh comments from frustrated users. it is and was very much appreciated!
    • Having seen you on the news and announcements there, all I can say is: you have my sympathy. You're in an impossible position, caught between angry users (like me) and a site owner who seems to have dropped out of sight and moved to a hermitage in Antarctica or something.

      Hopefully you'll find things here a bit more enjoyable.

    • Wow, major props to you. I've heard all sorts of stories before about the GJ staffing problems, but the things that have come up just recently are just boggling, like the person who said he hasn't even done maintenance on the server since 2003 either. Hope you'll have a MUCH easier time of it here!

    • After reading this...how is gj still functioning with all the shit that goes on over there with such little communication. The roleplaying communities have better communication it seems.
    • My jaw just about hit the desk when I read that system hadn't communicated with the support people for so long. You guys deserve some MAJOR kudos for hanging in there and trying to make things better.
    • wow, this irritates me and i totally i agree with what everyone else has said, and i know it won't make things any better but i would like to apologize on behalf of gj users that thought the support people had any control over anything that was going on.
    • Your patience really astounds me in dealing with system and fussy users. I'll admit, I lost my patience a time or two over there just dealing with the lack of updates, and with thousands of users doing the same thing to you guys, it's gotta be trying. So seriously, kudos to you! ♥
      • Thanks! It's amazing at the communication over here compared to GJ.

        We know exactly what is happening without even asking. Hell, I don't even have a problem and I get an update.

        In my gut, I feel like GJ will eventually go down the drain. If system could learn to communicate and not disappear for months on end, that would be great for the users and the support team.
        • I don't like to comment on what other people are doing or are not doing. I am sure they have their reasons, but I will always do my best to make the users over here happy. You can trust that!
    • I don't think a lot of people realized how bad it really was behind the scenes. I'm sorry that you and others that were on the support team got so much abuse. Once we were finally told that there was a severe lack of communication, it became all too obvious that certain people (person?) just doesn't care. Your patience was put to the test, and then some, and I know I'm not the only one who appreciates all you did.

      We've finally bailed out and pulled our game and all personal journals from GJ. What can I say, [info]squeaky is too hard to resist!

      Because you just don't hear it enough, thank you for everything you did.

        Finally we had to admit that he had not communicated with us for years and years.

        I emailed him today telling him to update news. I don't know how far that will go, but it was worth a shot.
        • I noticed that you did finally update news over there. I've been following whats been going on over there just haven't commented on anything as I don't want to troll for customers on another site's news posts.

          You did rip him pretty good in the last couple of posts. He really needs to decide what he is going to do with that site. He has way too many users that rely on that site to leave everyone hanging the way he does.
          • I agree! So many people are having problems. We kept telling to back up their stuff to be sure. But my god! Every time we turn around there is a problem that we cannot answer. :\

            Even in my responses to tickets, we have to state " he has not given us any updates to help you out."

            It stinks we have to state that, but we have to be honest now which we should have been since 2003 when he never communicated with us.
