It takes me exactly 18 minutes and 32 seconds to reach the Nighthawk diner and find a table, somewhere in back to avoid any unwanted attention. I know I could have gotten here in less than 10 seconds if I had used the teleporter, but I needed the air - and the walk - to clear my head and prepare myself for what was bound to be a complete disaster.
As I sit waiting for Bart to arrive, I go over our online conversation. I had hope to reconcile with him, but it was clear that I missed any chance I had of that happening. The hatred my brother showed toward me, even around Mags, hurt more than anything in the world.
I take a deep, shaky breath, trying as hard as possible to quell the fear rising inside.
