Who: Bellatrix Lestrange, Millicent Bagnold, assorted NPC Aurors
When: Saturday morning
Where: The Ministry of Magic
What: Wrapping up some unfinished business
Rating: Violence and death
Status: In progress
Subtlety had never been Bellatrix's strength. When presented with the seemingly impossible task of assassinating the woman who was poised to become the next Minister of Magic, most of her compatriots would have spent hours pouring over possible plans and scenarios, agonising over the best plan of attack.
Not Bellatrix. No, she just marched right into the Ministry in full Death Eater regalia, with no fear of capture or defeat. She had failed once this week and it would not happen again, in that she was absolutely firm. To be fair this was never a stunt she would attempt during the week itself, but the Ministry was all but deserted on the weekends and she had confidence she would be able to handle anyone who crossed her path.
The watch-wizard on duty was the first to fall - the atrium was thankfully deserted aside from him - but before he had the chance to sound the alarms, Bellatrix had a killing curse flying across the room and the man had fallen face first onto his desk.
Bellatrix had at least done a bit of homework and knew that Millicent would undoubtedly be working through the weekend. Millicent and her new security escort of the Aurors who never left her side, but they were hardly a concern. Now it was simply a matter of getting to the first level of the building and to Millicent herself. Had anyone actually seen her waiting for the lifts, arms folded across her chest and impatiently watching the little gold arrow tick its way up to eight from behind her mask, they likely would have done a double-take, the sight was so odd. Not only that there was a Death Eater roaming freely around the Ministry (and that was strange enough) but that she did not skulk around corners or carry herself in any way that suggested she might be concerned, instead acting like she absolutely belonged there. Finally the lift arrived and despite the rather strong urge to destroy that irritatingly chipper voice announcing the levels, the trip was without incident.
But now she moved a bit more carefully. Rodolphus had done a bit of reconnaissance within the Ministry for her and she knew she did not want to end up in a fight with multiple Aurors all at the same time. She needed this to go quickly and smoothly, not have a repeat of the earlier incident. This was to be her redemption and everything would go exactly according to plan. Which was a lot easier when said plan was simply 'enter, kill, retreat.' Better to keep things simple, really. The Auror nearest to the lifts was killed before he could even raise his wand and Bellatrix moved further in.
