What: Fixing up Sirius and impromptu Order meeting at Dorcas' brother's house.
Rating: Up to R, for blood, dirty mouths, and possible mature subject matter.
Status: In progress!
When James had read that Sirius and Dorcas had been attacked, and that Sirius' status was iffy, he'd all but flown up the stairs, shaken Lily awake from her afternoon nap, hastily explained, left her the co-ordinates, and then disapparated without waiting for her to go with him. Lily and the baby was James' first priority, but they were fine and healthy and Sirius was bleeding somewhere and Dorcas didn't know if he'd be okay.
James arrived with a loud crack, orienting himself quickly and pushing past anyone in his way to kneel down next to Sirius and Marlene. He didn't care who else was there, he didn't care about manners or what have you. He felt panic creep up past all of the vague and horrible possibilities he'd been imagining for the last few, terrifying moments, but replacing his imagination with reality didn't make him feel any better. Sirius was a mess, and he was unconscious, and James felt his heart constrict with how pale and still he was.
He cursed under his breath and then reached out and took his friend's hand, squeezing it and saying, "Oh, you little tit. You had me all worried for nothing. It's barely a scratch."
The falseness of his voice was probably evident to everyone, but his words were more for himself than anyone else, to keep himself distracted as Marlene worked. He knew he didn't know enough about healing to help her, and so he just tried to focus on his mate while his brain seemed stuck on a loop of holy fuck holy fuck holy fuck.
In case those that had arrived hadn't seen Dumbledore's comment in the journal, he said to the room, "Dumbledore is on his way. He's calling a meeting here." Then, to Marlene in a low voice, just in case, "Anything I can do? He's going to be all right, right?"
What a bloody mess. He smiled kind of crookedly down at Sirius, trying not to let the panic show too much, trying to be strong for everyone else in the room who was watching. Sirius had to be okay, because there was no other option. James was probably squeezing his hand too tightly, so he loosened his grip a little and took a breath.
For now, they just had to wait.
