Your 8am News Recap with Doris Crockford |
Two wizards have been arrested in relation to a Muggle coin scam. Years after stopping its production, the Muggle government withdrew the pre-decimal Sixpence from circulation at the end of June. Posing as bank representatives, the two thieves were retrieving those coins from unsuspecting Muggles and then exchanging them in wizarding businesses that accept Muggle money. The merchants learned that the coins were worthless when they made their regular deposit at Gringott's. The thieves, Simon Lowell and Peter Jenkins, were apprehended following an investigation from both the bank officials and Ministry authorities. Boycotted by many western countries, the Muggle Olympic games are in turmoil in Moscow. Rogue wizards have tried to take advantage of the political unrest to stir up trouble and attack Muggles. Worried for their athletes, the british Muggle government has requested protection from our Ministry. A team of wizards was sent to escort the british participants until the end of the games, on August 3rd. The French music master Vincent Robitaille will retire after one last concert at the wizarding concert hall adjoining the Opéra Bastille in Paris tonight. As a parting gift to all those sharing his passion and studying music, the old master has revealed a self-playing charm he has developed over his long career. "It has tremenduously helped me improve my technique," he said as he demonstrated how the charm records the last piece you played and can replay it for you, exactly as you played it. "Mistakes included," the musician stressed, "as that's how you can learn from it." The self-playing charm will be explained in details in the biography that Vincent Robitaille will publish next week. |
