Jaer Sand's indigo eyes were dark with anger and his clothes dusty and wrinkled as if he had been riding half the day. He hadn't. He had finished combing every last passage he knew in the dungeons to no avail and asked the only friends he'd dared to trust within the city to watch for any strange patterns to the Gold Cloaks routine now. He'd found no sign of Elia or of Hester. The Boltons occupied the cells reserved for noble prisoners but Jaer had no time for that. Perhaps their lord would be less friendly to the Starks...

And all of this was nothing important to Jaehaerys. All he had was enough to hold against the East, North and all of Highgarden if they truly wanted the Starks. Not to mention the small matter of someone clearly wanting the blood of the dragon extinguished... unless it was none of it the same person. Stranger things had happened. Either way it meant more time... He supposed his uncle's advice would be to wait. Jaehaerys wondered what would be said when they were waiting for Elia's head to roll across the stone platform where the executioners plied their trade in front of the Great Sept of Baelor. He prayed the Starks were not bent on that course but it did not make him any easier.

Jaer kept wary eyes on the corridor around him as he walked. The quarters given Prince Myrwin Martell were not so far from Elia's but far enough he supposed. He knocked on the door and steeled himself for whatever might happen.
