Everyone is talking about the weather. It's safe, easier than talking about politics or sex or the mumble and thrum of this city, the people lining the streets and sleeping on doorsteps. I spend more time now walking at night, not just to avoid the tourists but to try and catch a glimpse of what Prague is. When you strip away street lights and sidewalks, what remains in a city? Do places have character? Are there moments in a place's history so strong that they can scar the very earth?
Someday I will shape this entire city in glass. But first I need to understand it.
