WHERE: A lift in the Ministry
Padma was so very tired. All she wanted, more than anything, was to get home to Lancelot, put her pajamas on, and crawl into bed. She'd been at Anthony's too much this week, afraid she might be overextending her welcome. She knew she would need to stop by her parents in Birmingham, and with the Ministry floos still out, the thought of apparating there overwhelmed her. She'd have to floo home for certain. With her body still recovering from her wounds, and the energy she'd exerted on the presses last night, she wouldn't have the energy left by the time she left her parents.
Perhaps, if she owled him from her parents home, Anthony could meet her back at her flat with dinner. As tired as she was, Padma was also having a hard time keeping her guard up within the Ministry. Luckily for her, she was working for a member of the Wizengamot that she trusted, which allowed her to relax somewhat during the day. She only kept her mental walls completely in place when she was traveling throughout other parts of the Ministry. Since she'd had lunch with Stebbins, she'd resumed Occlumency study, and arranged for a few sessions with a Master in Legimency who knew her parents. She was already feeling stronger in keeping her guard up, but it was proving taxing today, and it made her increase her pace as she headed to the lift to the main atrium.
Inside the lift, she moved to the furthest back corner, hoping this one made as few stops as possible on it's way back to the atrium. The lifts liked to change up at times, and pick up passengers on floors clearly out of their way—though Padma was sure this had to do with the status of the members being picked up, not the actual floor. It seemed upper Ministry officials always managed to get a lift when they were waiting for one.
Padma, pressed a palm to her forehead, taking a deep sigh as she felt her pain potions beginning to wear off. She hadn't had one since lunch, and the places along her back, neck, and right upper arm where she had been burned, felt flushed. Gods, it seemed the day was only getting longer.
