Who: Oliver and Percy
Where: Chinese restaurant
What: Friends catching up
When: Monday evening
Rating: Low
Oliver had been practically relieved to be able to head out to dinner with the intention of meeting Percy. The last week felt as if it was weighing heavily on him; it seemed as if nothing he was doing was right. He kept running up against opposition. He had been almost relieved when Percy had said that he would meet him. Although he wasn't sure that he wanted to hear Percy's rendition of what had transpired, he was looking forward to seeing his old friend.
Oliver was reclined, almost lazily, in the chair across from Percy as they waited for their food to arrive. The restaurant was only moderately busy tonight, affording them a small measure of privacy. It was what they needed; it was good to look normal, to look as if they weren't hiding anything, but, of course, Oliver knew that he was going to be hiding quite a lot more sooner. He reached for the water that was resting on the table and drank about half of it. He wished for something a little stronger, but he knew that he would be a bad idea. While Jonathan had chided him on New Years, he actually only drank every now and then. It just so happened that on the evenings he did drink, he often didn't stop for quite some time. Tonight wasn't one of those nights.
"So, how've things been at work?" Oliver asked pointedly. It sounded as if it could have been an innocent enough question, but Oliver hoped that Percy would understand what he was really asking. What the hell had happened with the brands. How did the Ministry think that they could get away with all of that - and, perhaps most importantly, what did Percy think of it?
