"What do you mean, there's nothing you can do for him?!" Draco demanded as he pushed his way into the healer's office.
The curiosity had been killing him. And the anger, the fear and worry, the frustration at Gilderoy's stubbornness not to tell, and overall, the immense sense of dread.
Gilderoy's healer, Mr. Langthorpe, had several people in his office when Draco burst in.
"KIttens and Mittens! What is the meaning of this!" one of the elder healers demanded.
They all stood and looked appalled at the interruption, but Healer Langthorpe held up his hand and silenced them in an infuriatingly Dumbledoe way. "No, it's alright. We'll meet again tomorrow afternoon to discuss the upcoming changes. For now - patients first, you know."
Standing aside to allow the other healers and mediwizards to pass him, Draco continued to glare at the man he'd come to see. It was only after they'd all left the room that he approached the large mahogany desk. "You were Lockhart's healer. You know what's wrong with him."
"Please, sit down. Yes, I know what's wrong with him. The obliviation was quite thorough, I'm afraid. His memories may return later in life, but for now, there's nothing--"
"I'm NOT talking about his bloody MEMORY. I couldn't give a rat's arse whether that comes back or not. What I'm talking about is his back!"
The Healer looked confused and just the slightest bit amused.
"Now, I don't know if it's bed sores or a tumor or what, but you're going to heal him, and... and you're going to make sure it doesn't get any worse, do you understand me?" Draco finally sat after he'd finished his demands. He was not going to just sit around and wait for whatever that thing was to...
"Mr. Malfoy, isn't it? I can assure you that Mr. Lockhart is in perfect physical condition." Draco opened his mouth to protest but as the healer lifted his hand again, he was compelled to be silent. (Just as he thought - wordless, wandless magic, just like Dumbledore) "I assume you're referring to the lump on his back. I had offered to lance it and open it up, but I'm afraid I cannot do anything that the patient strictly forbids me to do."
Draco shifted in his seat at the thought of lancing the thing.
"Now, I must say, I'm glad he has someone there who can help him watch the progress and make sure it's progressing safely. When it does finally tear through, I would appreciate you bringing him in for treatment. It may not be painful, but there is chance of infection and interference with his magic."
"W-what?" Draco had his voice back? "What? Something's going to come out of that thing? Like... some sort of creature or something?"
The amused look on the healer's face made Draco even more irate. "Oh, dear, you don't know then."
Draco shook his head.
"Tell me, Mr. Malfoy, what do you know about Veelas?"
