"It's a fruitcake," Draco said as he dropped the heavy chunk of (could you call that food?) on the table. He was extremely pleased with himself. After all, fruitcake was one of his favorite treats of the season, and he'd managed to buy the last sixteen available! "You're going to love this! And it's excellent with either tea or mulled wine."
Gilderoy looked down at the dubious confection, then he looked up at Draco again with a smile. "It smells like rum."
"Oh, of course, I soaked this one in rum before I brought it up here. Makes it taste better. You'd better not complain, too! This is a Very special treat, and Draco Malfoy does NOT share his treats with just anyone."
Not one to be difficult about these sorts of things, Lockhart simply smiled and took a bit of the piece offered. It was extremely strong in the liqueur department, and it was delicious.
"You know, it makes perfect sense," he told Draco as he set his pastry fork down on the table and reached for his tea. "Why you would like this."
The tone in his voice was telling. Draco had heard it before - many times before. The first few times Gilderoy did this, he was a little surprised at just how profound the man could be considering his addled mind. And yet, somehow his words could always bore straight into Draco's heart.
"Oh really?" Draco asked as he decended into his chair.
"Yes. It's fruity, and spicy in a very unusual way. I've heard that many people - most people - do not like it, and they tend to ridicule and make it into some kind of joke. However, those who do are avid fans of the treat and although there is often enough to share - and just a little can go a long way - they tend to be posessive about it."
Just as he thought - profound.
"It's pretty dense, though."
... Or maybe not.
